Just started using a gfx750 on an auto guide ready tractor. Before you can engage the auto steer button you have to wait for the steering wheel symbol in the top right corner to turn orange. In order for that to happen you have to not turn the steering wheel, the problem is from letting go of the wheel to the symbol turning orange take about 2 seconds, so by the time auto steer is engaged the tractor has drifted off line quite a bit. Have people had the same problem.?

Not that I’ve noticed just hold the steering wheel longer? You will soon get used to getting near bang on your a/b and hitting the screen to engage the steering, could of course need to adjust the settings a bit without sitting infront of ours I can’t tell you how 🤦🏻

if I keep hold of the steer wheel it will never let me engage as it thinks I’m trying to manually override or steer the tractor. I have to let go for the symbol to turn orange but it’s taking too long to do this and it’s wandered off it’s line so I have to manually bring it back and try again. It’s the delay in time from not steering the tractor to allowing auto steer to engage thats the problem, it’s only 2 seconds but it’s a long way out if your travelling 10kph

Hi Yes it does sound like a setting issue, as with an AutoPilot system they can operate from a long way off the line and they will steer you to the nearest one. I'd ask who ever fitted it to check calibration and settings?

get a remote button fitted on your armrest on your tractor to do this, its far better than trying to press a touchscreen without any tactile feedback!
Does sound like a setting issue but surely as your turning in off headland you not doing 10kph ?

It’s the same on my challenger. Pita if your travelling at a good speed. I generally use a bigger headland to allow for steadier turns with the tracks but would be nice if the system was faster to lock on and allow it to steer. Had a motor version in it for a while and much better at lining up. Now I make sure im pretty much in the right place and wait the couple of seconds. As said fit the remote button, if your touch screen fails or gets scratched up from grubby paws they are not cheap to fix.

We can supply a remote button or footswitch if that is of interest?
Soil Essentials fitted this blue button into my armrest when I bought a secondhand CFX from a member on here 3 years ago.
Just thought it was standard equipment. Very simple to engage with thumb while on the move. Wouldn’t like to be trying to do it with touchscreen at all.

All you need is a momentary switch and to know where to connect it. On a GFX it’s normally the triangle shaped connector on the wiring loom coming out the back of the screen.

We have an engagement button on the tractor joystick.
When Fert spreading, spraying or using the pronto drill I can be travelling at 10k ish when wanting to engage the auto steer.

No it isn't, that's the isobus connection.
Remote engage is pin 2 and 7 on the green 12 pin plug on the main harness

I should realize by now it is far too risky to rely on memory from a couple of years ago when posting about such things. Thanks for putting me right!

Glad you’ve posted that pic we just had our system transferred onto a new 7718 I mentioned getting a switch fitted which vantage said they could do for us if we wanted so it’s good that it works well and doesn’t look out of place
