Trimble modems wanted

Having looked further into this I think I am leaning towards putting an external radio in the system.
Reasons are:
I have 3 units using radio signal, so aside from the frequency change they'll work straight away, I understand that the change of base is likely to mean my fixed tramlines will need nudging a bit to be corrected.
I have one unit going on VRS, which I can swap around as needed for further afield operation.

Can I just say thank you to everyone for their help on this.
It really is much appreciated, and hopefully the help given to myself will help others too.

I hadn't appreciated that Trimble no longer insist on their own modems, a good step forward IMO.

One more question if I can.

Will this base put out Trimble only signals? Or will a JD on VRS be able to use it for instance?

I take it from this question its a Trimble base? In which case on radio or Ntrip you can only use it with Trimble devices. Have you got the model number and serial number? If its a Trimble construction device then you can use it with any machine but Trimble AG products only work with Trimble Ag products

Why so? Looking Trimble ASG-542 specs it says:
"Correction data input/output. . . . . . . . . . . . CMR™, CMR+™, CMRx™, RTCM v 2.x & 3.x"

Can it only output scrambled RTCM 3.X or what the heck is the issue?
Trimble ag devices are all encoded even without the additional security so yes it only does scrambled output. The only devices you can work with it are other Trimble ag devices you can't even use a Trimble construction device with it. Trimble Agriculture is very insular even within trimble itself.

Have you checked with Ofcom to see if you need a licence for your new base station radio? I'd air on side of caution with them. Its easy enough to do.

I'm expecting to. It's not a major cost, about £75 for 5 years I believe.
I'll contact them this week.

The DCM 300 is 3G capable... I would suggest looking into the newer 4G modems as the 3G networks are systematically being shut down... or at least that is what the powers that be say they are doing. The GX450 and the RV55 will work for RTK cell corrections (VRS/NTRIP) and the SNM941 will do RTK as well as data transfer from vehicle to vehicle if this is something you use.

Well it is a good job you bought this, as the questions you have asked I don't have a clue about, but I had thought I ought to have had a go at it.
Will stay where I am at the moment but you never know one day I may just dive in and spend a fortune.
