Trimble - trimble comms

Nothing smarter than what I was playing with before: Switch in serial cable to disconnect feedback once handshake completed; keep engine running!
Good work. So do you still use the 500 aerial on roof and just send corrections or are you sending the position data to the 500.

Ah no worries. I thought you may have done some funky stuff with a “smart” cable or intermediate box/processor to allow the handshake but then make it one way comms between the units. But a simple switch is good too!

Just the one antenna, 750 sends position etc to the 500. Not the tidiest solution, but only imagine using it for grassland spraying - the 2 receivers normally live in different tractors.

So the key question is with cheaper rtk solutions now available could we inject the corrected signal directly into the 500. It seems based on this you can just need the nmea to tsip conversion.

just started experimenting here - the ezguide doesn't allow me to configure the baud when selecting ext tsip so what did you set your 750 to when exporting the tsip? Also data settings parity and stop bits?

I honestly can't remember! Think I just selected tsip at both ends and it worked. I created a config file for the 500 when I was playing about and used it last week, but I don't think I had one on the 750, so it must have just worked. Give me a day or two and I'll have a look.

In post 3 you had port param’s set to 115,200 bps, odd parity and one stop bit.

That was when I was blundering about in the dark, but most of it stuck. This is the setup that is working for me.

So I've tried multiple attempts sending the ezguide my own tsip messages in what I think is the correct format and sequence. Its clearly expecting a header message though with a machine identifier that it supports but i've no idea what that might be. If there is anybody here with a 750 or indeed a 252 or 262 receiver that is willing to hook it up there PC and log the tsip messages that is coming from the receiver then that would be fantastic just reach out and I can point you in the right direction.

I'll have a go, should be the same procedure as when I was unsuccessfully trying to sniff out the vra protocols. Will pm when I get laptop rigged up.

Brilliant thanks,
Realterm is a terminal emulator that will let you connect and log the data. It’s hex data so an ordinary ascii display won’t do.
