Triton direct seed drill

Here's the tweet :-

This 4.8m Triton rig will be released soon. Operated at 18kmh delivers spot output of 10ha an hour this is the year for 24hour shift driving to give spot rate of 240ha a day from this 4.8m. 300hp req for this forward speed in heavy clay, 200hp in silty clay. #AminoA late tonic

So quoting spot rate in Ha/Day.

And as @Shutesy says, they appear to have done the maths on a 'triton' calculator.

And it’s doing all this on 3ltr ha [emoji23][emoji23]

Actually I think I'm missing a trick here. If I buy a new 4.8m Triton and tractor to pull it it would cost say £250,000. Now I go and do a week's drilling 24 HR days in shifts then at 240ha/day I'd earn £252,000 So all new kit and a week's work pays for it bar some diesel and labour and at the end of the week I'd have a £200,000 tractor bought and paid for with 168hrs I could sell for near new price so earning about £200,000 week. Better than farming.

I thing wrong with the drill, nothing wrong with amino which has had some interesting results in niab trials. It’s just the wildly exaggerated claims of both companies that annoy me! Apparently a farm nearby has bought a triton so I might get him to plant some stubble that I haven’t managed to get on.

I'm sure he'd been keen to do it at £60/acre for you

Have we any idea how many have been sold? I would would certainly like to see some results as I think if it is half the machine that they claim, it would fit in well over here in the wet west. As yet there only seems to be one grower owning up to having one.

You could ask Triton, they are good with numbers. I bet it’s at least 100,000 units by now and most of those were delivered last month.

To achieve 18kph with tines in 6’ to create the drainage channel while the blade sowing normally in good conditions on lighting land you would need 300hp to achieve that speed in conditions now you’d need ?? If you could achieve it at all without bunging up due to the shear volume of dirty flowing through the frame per second. As power requirement rises exponentially with speed not linearly.

Sorry but as normal they are living in a Fantasy world!!

can the weaving hoppers do 250-300kgs of seed at 18kph even? - that's a LOT of seed being transferred from a front tank / min ??
