Only a small point, most of us wouldn’t be in the position to have Horsch lend us a front hopper. I seem to struggle to get anything on demo nowadays ?

if you had just bought a 130k drill from
them I expect they might help, most manufacturers are pretty good at looking after customers

if i couldn’t have borrowed one i would have bought one (i did buy a £1500 accord in fact) and may well buy this demo one if the price is right it’s been so useful

well we are doing 10kph with the 6m

big fields this week (smallest was 40ac) seed within 150m of the field and in daylight hours the most we did in a day was 80ac

that’s a REAL work rate that includes turning, checking depths and coulters occasionally, headlands, working around tres and poles, refilling / stopping for a pee etc !

Out of interest Clive to those of us who do alter / build / mangle stuff to suit what was wrong with the Accord unit? Thanks.

nothing wrong with it at a other than on a 6m machine the fan was not big enough at very high seed rates

on a 3 or 4m drill it would be fine or even ok for 6 at more normal seed rates !

i would sell it for £1500 if anyone is interested in one, it’s sat here ready for work

from when we collected it

and from when we were first playing with it on the front of the Co 6

by high seed rate i mean 250kgs of beans at 10kph across 6m - it will meyer that rate but only do about 5kph before fan fails to transfer fast enough - on 3m or 4m it would be fine at that speed / seed rate. on a 6m it would work up to about 180kgs i worked out

the hopper is from a 4m drill

conditions are horrendous at the moment in yorkshier. ditches full of water, river air flooding thousand acres ,land fully saturated ,farmers emptying grain stores in two feet of water. november is nothing like this. soon as tractor will say on top drill will be out

I have no experience of aminoA but over several years there’s been a lot of products that suppose to help yields. I think over a10 year period the greatest yield increase comes from the right weather rain/ sunshine at the right time from drilling to harvest. As for the triton drill ( I thought it was supposed to be a Jesus drill that walked on water). RJH said in post 22 that yields are just as achievable drilled after Christmas as in the early autumn. I will be surprised if this season does.
