Really? £30k for 1100a is surly quite a low spend for that area

bought this a couple of weeks ago with Metcalfe points on so might be after a few tips soon 8003BB71-6920-4FF5-ADE6-D077B98677E9.jpeg

👍🏾 Anytime, have had some excellent results with ours. Looks like a fun project. Just stripped ours down today ready for a few alterations.

don’t know about fun , bought it in a panic without looking at it. It’s a modified mini flow 24 tines over 4 m some mini flow tines some freeflow tines welded onto the frame that floats like the mini flow did so don’t think it’ll do. Plan is to make a new frame bolted ridged and put all freeflow legs in it well spaced out and use direct when conditions allow or a wet weather drill when the vaddy is struggling.

Do you think a pass with a carrier type machine would make the drill easier to pull or just make more mess ?
The drill looks a great principle but I fear build quality might let it down and resale value might be a issue.
that said I think if it worked out ok 2 years would pay for itself.
just find it hard to spend 30k on a drill for 1100 acres
I only have 400 acres bought new triton and payed for it's self in two years, set up is key you can set to through soil over seed, or cut slot and side press, this is best dun straight in to stubble, the looser the soil the more movement of soil you get. i pull 3 mt with 150 case puma in my strong clay , big tiers low pressure 710 at 12 psi, is your drainage good, if not put more drainage in it will give good pay back , or are you skint.

Can you illustrate how your drill 'paid for itself in two years' ?

I would say 400 acres saving £25 per acre cultivation costs would cover it . A lot more to be considered but that would be the general jist of it

we ran a Claydon for a few year a d the cost/ time savings where massive but with black grass becoming a problem we wanted to delay drilling so went back to a more conventional system

Interesting...hard to see from the photo but has the conversion retained the rear roller? If so the setting on that will battle the depth setting on the additional big wheels surely as he’s put everything on the ‘hangy’ bit...by pushing the rear roller in he will lift the coulters out (as originally intended) along with the big flotation wheels 🤔

rear roller has gone and been replaced with 2 rows of harrows. They were taken off for transport and have not been put back on yet. I plan to beef up the frame to 80mm box and make it 4 rows of tines. Do away with the ‘handy thing’ and bolt it to the hopper frame.
if that makes sense?

I should really be cracking on with it but I’ve a tenant who want to be in a new shed by 1st jan and it needs a concrete floor putting in all electrics doing a door and drainage sorting

Ah I did wonder as much...good ideas from both of you; at least with your mod you can use some of the hopper weight to aid penetration...be a lovely fire-engine drill as well long as those big wheels keep turning on your land(?). I’d love a 3m miniflow with similar conversion in the shed for emergencies...we have a narrow village to go through which isn’t 4m-friendly!

40% grant, discount and 40% tax saving =£10 per acre, plus getting the crop in last year, this will reduce over the years, depending on length of time, and re-sale value

You must be drilling something special to be paying 40% tax on 400ac of arable land, especially pre Triton! What did it replace?
