trying to make living

Thank you for sharing. Understand totally what you mean. It’s just this past few years that I’ve had actual ownership off either sheep or cattle that I bought myself. Reallt hard to try and change stuff when have had no financial input as such. Now I have some lambs off my own to sell if there’s any left from my own ewes and then when heifers are to sell I have that money to once feed bills all taken out. I know what I’d like to do but it’s getting others to listen or help isn’t easy
Feed bills are crazy this year. If they hadn't to be paid we would have half a chance. Why is it that when feed is expensive we seem to use far more :banghead:

And when prices are relatively good for lambs the feed prices are high to so even with higher sale prices it’s costing more to get them that far
That's the problem this year. I am finishing beef cattle, the stores have risen more than the beef, the meal is well up in price, the cattle I am selling were bought maybe not too bad but its taking too much to replace them

Have a random worry today. May I voice it here ? Put my heifers outside for first time this afternoon, warmish sun but rather breezy. Onlt small field I had to put them in had sheep wire fence round and a very low hedge down one side. There’s a group sized calf hutch in corner. Will that be enough for shelter from the sun for few days before they are settled and can go into another patch with a bigger hedge ? Am I worrying over nothing

They will be fine with a bit of shelter as long as they've got good water as well. just found this thread so haven't read it all. Always some one on here to talk sometimes wish I had the guts to put myself out there and talk even where no one really knows who I am good on you.
Thank you. If u want a chat to anytime you know where I am. Hopefully it’l keep them posted until they leave the paddock. Ones blowing tonight Already tho
