Disc mounted skims look like t**s to me too

all the experts swear by them, but on our tighter land all they did was block up, bend or completely snap off when they got in a tramline

No danger of that with the ones its got in now, far more adjustment on them too, once ive fabricated the adjusters to enable me to pitch them forwards and back and side to side

Need to try it first, get it set right and maybe paint it

always fancied having a shallow work 4f what can go behind either of the 14s or the 990, so i can get some ground blacked over early on while the 15 is still on drainage board jobs

It needs a full set of discs ideally, have the skims set so they will work properly without them, ie running a touch wide. If i put discs in it il have to dismantle the skims, turn the stalks and bring the skims back in line with the landslides, hence all the new bolts

That will be a good load on a 990!!!
and yes I know you will quote the DB demo team pulling 8 but that was a semi mounted.
Unless you have real boys land ,remember our neighbours thought it was a good load for an 1124 but that was on SCN so probably a bit deeper

9 actually :) 990 autodrive with a 6 f semi mounted, and a chain from that pulling an 880 with a 3f CM3

990 implematic managed 3 on our worst land, "back in the day"....so the 990 with a 1200 engine and plenty of ballast should pull 4?

I stand corrected :)

however I await your pictures with interest.
I would worry about lifting out at the ends, with a bit of muck clagging things up:whistle:

DD bodies do not work well at 12"....especially when the standard share is 16" wide!!!!

we have tried it, it wasnt pretty
Fair comment. i'm on DD bodies but have never had them below 15" currently running 5x18 on a MA100. Its nearly 20 years old now and one day i'm sure swinging that lot over is going to break something:( If/when it does i might see if i can find a Lemken or a Kuhn next time round. Quite like the look of them.

Edit- i do know of one or 2 folks who have cut the share down a bit to make a better job at narrow furrow widths.

3 bolt single piece shares cant be cut down to much more than 14"...if you have the later style ones they will go a bit further, ours are the original full width ones from when the DD board was first introduced in 1996 or there abouts

plus at 30 quid each for genuine ones, im reluctant to cut them about
