A cloudy day with heavy bursts of rain across northern England and southern Scotland in the morning, likely to fall as sleet or snow on the hills. The north and west should become drier later. Generally drier across the rest of England, Wales, While some rain may affect Northern Ireland. The afternoon sees heavier rain into central, northern and eastern Scotland, again this falling as sleet or snow on the hills and perhaps even at low levels in the far north. A few showers into southern Scotland. Mostly dry for England as Wales apart from an odd shower on southern and western coasts and hills. Temperatures at 2C in northern Scotland, up to 8C/46F for much of England and Wales.
