Hi,

Looking at getting a smartphone and have seen adverts for these. Does anyone have one, or any experiences to share?

Thanks in advance.

Was looking at a VodafoneX9 and a Samsung J4+, at a similar spec level or a Nokia1 at a lower spec level.

The query about Tuff Phones was how had people got on with them, did they live up to their name etc

I got fed up with smartphones as my last one died with no warning
So have gone retro and bought a ruggex rhino n with buttons
So now I look at the tablet when iI get in.

Samsung S6 here. I can't fault it in any way. The abuse it's taken is amazing and it's still going. I've shattered 3 screen protectors and I mean shattered and yet when I pealed them off the phones own screen was fine. I used be a firm fan of the Xperia Z phones but they were garbage in comparison.

CAT S60 here, good phone, I have had it 18 months now with no problems. On its second day a JCB 416 drove over it with a buckrake of silage on board on a clean concrete yard, front wheel cleat of the Michelin was directly on top of it when we found it (it had dropped from my pocket as I had jumped on board to talk to the driver, belt pouch had yet to arrive) phone never missed a beat. On holiday was videoing the kids underwater in the pool no issues. Good battery life, a little bulky, good torch with its own button and novelty thermal imaging camera for finding hotspots/things in the dark generally well pleased with it.
Kids both have CAT S30, little bit slower equally as robust and good battery life also.

I'd buy whatever phone you want and get a tough case for it.

I've smashed 4 cases in the last 18 months but the phone is like new.
Under £10 on Ebay.

I have a tuff t400s as a work phone. Hate the thing. It’s clunky, large in pocket. Slow unless you install an extra SD card in the 2nd sim slot. Also camera is very poor by today’s standards. If your fingers are anything but dry and perfectly clean it will also not work the screen and or answer calls very well. Also seem to struggle with its Bluetooth connectivity. Some days it works. Some days it needs re starting 3/4x to get to work so the person the other end can hear you. It does this in numerous vehicles.

In short no I wouldn’t have one if it was my choice

Don’t get an out of date, compromised heap of sh!t, “Tuff” phone (and god I hate consumerised Americanisms.....it’s “tough”) when you can get a proper, normal persons smart phone and stick it in a tough case.

Best of both worlds. And if you are an absolute gorilla then it’s only £20 for a new case, rather then several hundred for a new phone.

Otterbox is the place for cases, my dad is so clumsy but with an otterbox on he can keep a smartphone tidy for the full 2 years of his contract. Before I discovered otterbox I was having to find him second hand replacements all the time.

Tuff 400s here. Battery life excellent, needs rebooting occasionally to keep it working correctly, but robust and no dramas. Can't be doing with phone cases, never had a good one yet.

I see a CAT60 is the toughphone to get, if it had a bit more tech onboard I would've got one. Instead this weekend I ordered a Samsung S9 and case and will try to keep it protected. I broke a few phones before I started using cases for them.

Bought a T1 Tuff phone early December , so far so good. My first smart phone, always had rugged Samsung or Nokia before with no internet.
Battery lasts 2 days for me and it does the job. No case for phone and can t put in pocket now as too big so have had to learn to carry it or put in a safe place. Have managed to scuff screen in one place, no idea how but must have been against something.
