About to change the scrapers on packer roller on KV power Harrow .
Anyone using the Tungsten ones that are 5 times as expensive. Is it money well spent.
Also , where do people buy them at the best price.?

Its ok being 5 times more expensive if they last 5 times as long.had some tungsten tipped plough points 2 years ago that were very dissapointing, infact rubbish.the now defunct company who supplied them did give me a set of normal points as a replacement.id try metcalf for supply and prices

I’ve been quoted £25 a scraper for genuine KV ones, which would be expensive for the set . £5 for the non hardened ones

I've got a set on my Feriboli powerharrow combi drill and to be truthful I cannot remember when I put them on its been so long ago.
They have started to wear at the side now, absolutely fantastic, once set, forget 'em
I got mine from Pan Anglia.

I was very sceptical of tungsten but I was fed up with high wear rates on my drill so I tried a set of tungsten ones and the difference is unbelievable. They have already outlasted normal ones and the only real wear is where the tungsten has chipped off on stones, that's the downside to tungsten.

Silver fox, I supply Ferobide weldable tungsten, you weld it on using normal mid steel wire or rods. I have one ongoing trial and to date the ferobide scrapers have done 15 times standard.

I would be very careful using tungsten carbide on a roll. Yes they will last a lot longer but if one gets knocked it will be quite capable of cutting threw the packer tube.
Hard facing will help and that is as much as I would dare.

I had some durafaced ones from spaldings years ago. Don't even know if they still do it now, they did last well, and saved hassle changing and setting, but they were expensive

Another vote for ferobide here. Bought a quantity from Stewart above and welded them onto the scrapers on our trio. The wear rate is incredible compared to the genuine sumo set on our subsoiler that only does a fraction of the area the trio covers. Have started using the tiles on wings and legs as you can weld them to anything.
