W-a-n-k...It'll be a fandango box, with at its worst a resistor, or at its best a resistor with a circuit board with some degree of Nesbitt adjustability and monitoring of one or 2 of parameters if you're lucky, All it'll do is kid the rail pressure sensor into injecting more Fuel.

Like the VW Evry Mod... Kidded it to running cold and chucked more fuel... = Loads of Poke and Smoke.

Remap it do it properly.

Mate blew the turbo out of a new d max with one of them plug in boxes
Turbo reliability hasn't been a strong point for the D-Max lately.

Regarding tuning boxes, they're fine provided you don't buy the cheapest, shittest one you can find. Stick to something reputable like Steinbaur (if they do one).

Do ECU software updates at the dealerships still wipe flash tunes or is that a thing of the past?

I have a Steinbaur on my 2.5 d max. Remap might be better though easily found out and void warranty. In the case of a d max a remap along with dpf delete the way to go but of course illegal if found out

Steinbaur box can be easily removed. Does work well improving torque and pulls well. End of day it’s still a pickup. Fuel consumption about the same. Can be turned on or off via a switch though never bother myself.

I’d avoid a cheap tuning box and of them all I only trust the Steinbaur rightly or wrongly and am no means an expert. The 1.9 d max can be remapped by dealer and does not affect warranty. I’m not sure but led to believe an ecu update could probably overwrite a remap - possibly?

As to the dealer fit Isuzu remap it kind of begs the question why it is not the standard out of showroom setup? The 1.9 d max feels badly set up in standard form. The new d max with same engine seems to be better set up, with auto box anyway. Still very lacklustre though. Chap at Pendle Performance mapped on rolling road around 210bhp and a good torque increase across the Rev range. This was the new d max though that vid has been removed from his YouTube channel for some reason?

Careful with tuning boxes and fuel efficiency claims.

Remember they are independent and fit between the ECU and the injectors etc, so in many cases the injectors are actually injecting more fuel than the ECU thinks, so your mpg readout on the dash will indicate a 10%-15% improvement, but measure it at the pump v miles travelled and you may be disappointed........

Only talking from my experience years ago with a dragon performance box on a 2.0 VW golf 140bhp diesel. Went superchips bluefin in the end, much better.

Regards
