50 yards is bad, we're going to cull one that won't stick at 8kmh for 1 mile (n)
I try and sort the Rams out in June, turn over every ram and inspect its feet, trim any excess off and purple spray between every hoof on every ram incase of scald or footrot. They also spend 3 consecutive days every 21 days going through the formaldehyde from June until they go in in October.

Thick Texel/Beltex tups by any chance? Or maybe lung damage from mv/pasteurella/OPA? Just throwing ideas out, as can't really tell without seeing them, and even then....:scratchhead:

After 2 aged, proven rams going infertile together on me a couple of years ago, I've gone to fertility testing at least everything that might not be run in big mobs (maternal rams & Beltex). The Charollais stock rams that get all used on the commercial flock will already have been checked before.

All my rams needed for November tupping had balls checked and a bolus a couple of weeks ago, to cover TE deficiencies here in plenty of time, and are run through a footbath if they get scald at all. Other than that, they are in an old orchard waiting on any windfall apples to drop.

I will add photos of the crew, when the boys are in...

But here are this week's purchases

2x NCC Park tups, and a Texel. Still need another 2 Texels...

The Texel isn't the best, and I wouldn't pretend he is... he was a bit of a budget buy at a sale which trade just kept getting stronger  but I know well the farm he is from and I like how they 'do' their tups - not over pushed or done hard. He is solid muscle and is good skinned, even if a bit slight bodied...

A CharolaisX ram, a Charolais-Beltex yearling and a few ram lambs hassling them. The feeder is their toy, hasn't been used in years!

those tups sound like they need to go, ive got one to replace as hes a little older but still in good shape but i keep gimmers so hes best away really and one a little thinner than rest and getting a little slower on his feet. To be fair the crap at the last sale i went to i will be keeping em if i dont see anything better o_O

lets hope theres some good stuff at skiptons mixed breeding sale (n)

i was hoping for something like ford4000's tups on left (look great) got a pair very similar to them 2 years ago and their spot on a little dearer than i would normally pay but you can see the quality in the lambs
