Out of interest, how come you've kept them in until now?

Here in Cumbria we've had one of the worst springs on record, very cold and dry in april so never had a blade of grass until mid may by which time it was raining every day making it far too wet to turn out.
We did have 8 cows and calves which we turned out mid april but they churned the field up and ploughed it with it being so wet and had to be brought back inside.
Last week was the soonest we could have turned out, grass has really shot on since it warmed up, but it isnt a 2 minute job turning out (calves to dehorn and geld first and cows to bolus and feet to trim).
Lambs have been to dose this last week due to nematodirus so havnt been able to get cows out...all in all it hasnt been the most straightforward spring!

been out all winter, come back to lambing shed to calve. Can come and go from shed as they please...most decided to calve outside even when it was cold wet and windy! Think they're happy now they have grass they can wrap there tongues round.
