Interesting outlook for food. The fact is no one knows what will really happen post Brexit. Crucially Europe has by and large done a better job with animal welfare amd the same canont (I don't think) be said about other countries around the world USA springs to mind as the programme illustrated. As far as GM is concerned I take a prgmatic view in that "man is bound to understand more about the world around him" and understanding genetics is not a area of development that should be cast aside. Look at the progress in the medical world. I'm thinking of health cures here not modifying or messing around with the unborn!

I only heard bits as was using the grinder :banghead: they had a kiwi on saying about how great it had been for new Zealand, allowing them to innovate and adapt to market, although the main example of kiwi fruit production wasn't perhaps overly applicable to the UK! Guy Ritchie was pretty good pointing out that we were competing with subsidised farmers from other countries, with particular emphasis on the US. Overall it was well balanced but does make you think once brexit is done and dusted ag subsidies simply won't be acceptable to the electorate.

You mean guy smith!

The nz 'expert' seemed totally detached from reality. Remove all subsidies and use legislation to enforce environmental rules.

The guy from Somerset. 'If food from Europe/america is subsidised, then we should import all our food and use the money spent on uk subsidies to further subsidise the imports and make food cheaper still!'

Hmmm!

Never heard of any of the calls.

Did anybody see it?
I saw most of it and thought it was actually quite good if you can cope with Nigel' campness and Adam's cheese!
Maybe this programme could be a benefit to British farming as it's promoting home grown produce and encouraging people to cook in a cheap and easy way!
Having Adam and his farm at the heart of it has to be a good thing as the general public look to him as the face of farming!
Next week they will be cooking lamb and I think they mentioned about it's high price,
Gotta be worth a watch!

If hes the face of british farming. Id hate to see the arse.
The sod is never home. Galavanting across the country to collect 2 pigs. Or one ewe and lamb. No doubt claiming mileage.Has staff to do all the work.

I think he gives off the impression that farmers are raking it in for sh!t owt im afraid

I hear what you're saying and I mostly agree but the general public think that that's all farmers do anyway I'm afraid.
My point is love him or loath him he is what those that know no better think a farmer is .
The other point is, if that programme or any like it, encourage people to buy and use British produce then it has to be a good thing.. post brexit we will need all the positive promotion we can get...
Can't see NFU etc stepping up, can you?

I agree with you we need to encourage british bought
But instead of paying henson to travel to foriegn climbs. Or to attend awards bashes.
Lets see footage. Of him out struggling in sideways rain ot sleet. Trying to load cattle but failing to do so first half dozen times.
His trousers clarted in mud. Stuff breaking real everyday life.
( like bbc superb farming life series)
Not his happy clappy. Badger praising. Life is great. Attitude that he portrays.
