TV with best tuner

Recently bought my granny a Polaroid tv. It wouldn't pick up BBC channels, which is a big problem as her favourite program is strictly!

Took down my 12 year old Panasonic and it worked fine. Asda have agreed to take back the Polaroid as not fit for purpose.

Does anyone else have any experience of a tv with better tuner as I'm too tight to buy her a new Panasonic.

We have an LG in the kitchen and a bigger Sony TV in the other room. The Sony TV (smart Tv, but not smart enough) does not pick up all of the channels by using the Sky box (don't pay for Sky anymore, but use the box as a set top box), apparently it is a software issue with Sony t.v.'s. Meanwhile cheaper, smarter, smaller LG does the job superbly.

It works with the Panasonic tv so i would say the problem lies with tv and not aerial?

Have bought a ampiifier but problem just the same.

It picks up about 50 channels but not BBC. She would be delighted with BBC1 to channel 4!

Poloroid make cameras (tho thats debatable) - not TV's - check your co-ax lead for quality and connection then buy a decent brand of telly.
They're just cheapo TV's with the Polaroid name on them, Polaroid pretty much went bust when digi cameras took over their niche.

@Chae1 we have a cheaper Panasonic and a Samsung Smart TV here, the panel/screen on the Panasonic is IMO one of the best around, the features on the Samsung are pretty good and compatible with our other Samsung devices.

We don't have terrestrial TV here anymore BUT the Samsung has better receiver specs than the Panasonic by a dB so "in theory" either would do your gran's needs if your Panasonic one works there.

Thanks for all the advice. So returned Polaroid tv today, good for Asda took it back no questions asked and refunded full amount to my bank account.

Went to curry's and bought a LG, after taking advice from man at shop. Could have bought a JVC for £70 less but he reckoned LG better quality tuner. Took it down to grannies plugged it in did retune and got BBC channels fine. So success so far. Said he'd take it back in first 21 days if any problems.

Got to admit although the internets great, its good to be able to go into a shop speak to somebody helpful and see what your buying. I obviously aren't only one thinking this as car park was full as was shop. Kids loved it too, being able to see everything on display.
