Twisted Ankle

Not twisted an ankle for 20 plus years.

This morning while walking around sheep put my right foot down a rabbit hole and have crunched my ankle.

It was sore for a bit right after but I could walk ok.

8 hours later my boot feels tighter and it’s damn painful to walk on so I’m hobbling around.

What’s the current advice for twisted ankles?

I’ve taken some ibuprofen and will get my foot up when I get in but over just mown grass for haylage, need to get lambs in to weigh, want to crop walk couple hundred acres tomorrow and we are due to start drilling parsnips tomorrow!!

In the meantime, I would go for RICE; Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate. All 4 parts, not just the rest and ice bit.
I would seriously recommend not walking hundreds of acres of crops for a few days!

I went over on my ankle in the Autumn, did rice on it for a few hours then went out to crutch sheep and just tried carrying on as normal. Took around 2 months till it was almost back to normal

Get an elastic ankle support bandage and wear boots with plenty of support.

Ouch!!

I’ve just pulled my boot of and no discolouration yet. But definitely swollen.

Think the quad bike is going to get more use next few days.

I just taken by boots of. Blundstone pull ons. Not much fun.

I’ve got some lace up walking boots I think I’ll try.
