A counter campaign along the lines of “oatly gives you the shites”? Fact doesn’t seem to be of any relevance to ads on social media. 🤣

I think a series of ads taking the mickey out of the more ridiculous anti meat claims, whilst subtly referencing the hypocrisy of the various mouthpieces involved.

“Beef is great, ignore the bull”

I’ve loads more great ideas too 🤣

The unions and AHDB have responded to Oatly. I guess the next action depends on the response.
I do agree that we need to take some figures printed in reputable reports and journals - and there are plenty-and get them into some snappy adverts.
How about the oft-quoted figure of 15000l of water to produce 1kg of beef. That is 15000l every day.
Complete nonsense.

How about a picture of a Damien Hirst glass cage containing 15000l water with a bullock floating in it.
"Do you think it drinks that every day?" with a realistic sized tub next to it of expected intake.
Do you need help talking to Mum about beef?
Help Mum.

I thi k IPCC report said agriculture contributed 23% GHG worldwide but mitigated against 24% of all the rest -around 18%. UK nearer 10% but mitigates 18% -tell Mum.

Doubt Saatchi will be phoning me just yet.

I was thinking something similar earlier. From the discussions I’ve had with people, a lot consider them a bit of a laughing stock. Even some vegan campaigner on the radio recently admitted the phrase “plant based” is seen as more acceptable these days.
Snappy ads like “Go vegan and support the chemical companies” or “Go vegan and shorten your life.”
I‘m sure there’s better than this we can come up with.

I quite like this for a start

Updated 2016 stats were used in this graphic which makes oatly's statistic even more off the mark

In its 5th Assessment Report (AR5), the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) provided a similar breakdown of emissions by sector. However, this was based on data published in 2010. The World Resources Institute therefore provides an important update of these figures.

Given the UK doesn't have crop burning, deforestation or rice culitivation .. those statistics are incorrect as well.

Looks to me as those figures are estimates and generic. They certainly don't apply to the UK.

It really needs a legal case against people using bad data to beat the UK up .. it's not right some people are going to lose their livelihoods based on really poor quality media.

That talks a lot about methane and I believe that to be a red herring as the Methane cycle is very short and its impact in the past has been massively over calculated. This has been upheld by a number of reports.

You need to also be aware that Methane is not just generated by cows. If cows were not in existance the plant material would still be used to generate methane by another mammal, insect or fungi.

Or the land used to make used to make crops which humans eat and make methane - life doesn't stop because an environmentalists report says getting rid of cows is a good idea.

You do yourself down. Given what we've had from the likes of AHDB in the last few days you should be getting our money instead of them.
