Two businesses using same herd number

A family member wants me to take on some land for grass keep which I will stock with cattle. He doesn't want me to split up the land that's on his holding number so I will have to use hiss CPH number. We don't want to add a second herd number as we will need to have separate handling facilities etc. It sounds complicated regulations wise and increased inspections. The only thing I can think of now is to use his herd number. Can two businesses use the same herd number? How does it work? Who can I call to get advice? (Uk).

So you're just renting it off him?

Call APHA they are very helpful. If it’s less than 10 miles you may be be able to do a TLA and not move passports. Not sure of the exact rules as the other farm has cattle, what is the TB situation?

My guess is moving passports and Tb testing is more likely

Phone Animal Health or BCMS. You can rent ground and declare a movement but the cattle would still be under your herd. They shouldn't be under another herd number as that would risk penalties for you for their mistakes and vice versa.
There are farms with several seasonal tenants, all using same handling facilities and seems to work though could fall foul 9f the standstill rules.

His herd number, his cattle no matter what.
If both names on the herd then both have control, his name only & he turns up his toes it goes into lockdown, been there & have the T-shirt, can't even keep the old herd number, was a major handeling here.
