Twose cambridge rolls

In the general theme of investing in new machinery for the farm and bringing it into the present day, I bought myself a set of Twose cambridge rolls a couple of weeks back.

They are about 50 years old and seem to have been blue (not yellow) when they started out. I'm a long way from wanting to restore them, but I might brush the frames down and paint them. Does anyone know what colour paint they would have been, and does anyone still make it? I can only find yellow.

Thanks,
NP.

Would have originally been blue.
I would have thought Fordson Empire blue would be a close match.....but don't quote me....

If it's Orwell blue that would be well handy as I already have a tin! Obviously it doesn't need to be perfect (and it won't...), but I thought if I was going to buy some, I might as well get the right colour.

Thanks everyone!

Don't take my word for it, I'm not convinced I'm right...

Was there a Nacton Blue too?

How are the cereals coming along?

@Selectamatic - ha - but you reminded me about the tin of blue I've already got, and tbh that's going to be good enough.

Cereals coming along okay... The WW is ready, I'm off to clean the combine tomorrow and do some jobs in the yard. Hopefully it'll be harvested by the end of the week. Not sure about the spring rye, it's a bit of a step into the unknown but it looks alright and no signs of any ergot so far. How's your barley doing?

What about the lentils?

Barley is ready to cut, once the forecast showers pass, the combine will be rolling toward the middle / end of the week... hopefully...

Dad bought all sorts of Twose implements when we were kids and they are a paler blue than the Fordson blue. I can't find any unfaded paint on anything to photograph, but I reckon they are the same sort of light blue as our Lemken plough if that is any help.

Resurrecting this old thread... (and no I haven't got round to painting them).

A bearing has gone on the main roller. It's a cast iron piece that holds the roller axle to the frame, and is secured by two bolts. The roller is 8 feet wide, and 22 inch diameter. The casting says "Twose Tiverton 15007" on it. The two bolts are 17cm centre to centre.

Does anyone know where I could get a replacement? Obviously I could ring Twose up, but just thought I'd check before doing so as these are fairly ancient.

Also, does anyone know how many rings it ought to have? It has 32, but I reckon there's space for one more, and the slackness has probably caused the damage to the above casting. There are some spacers in there too but not enough of them, I dare say.

Our old cambridge rolls we have were lubricated with a strange grease my dad had in a bucket hat was really stiff but once warm it floated on the grease. I can never find the modern equivalent

Firstly, those bolts are not 17 cm centres
They are imperial may be 7 inch
Think they are a fairly standard casting which should be replacable
They look very similar to many others of a similar vintage
