been getting power surge on the hydrostatic when harvesting it will suddenly speed up and then slow down , it will do it constantly some times. Have changed the circuit board on the joy stick recommended by dealer but it still does it, it was so bad the other day I swapped all relays about and it fixed it for rest of the day. But it is still doing , has any one else come across this not sure what it can be , hope it's not the hydrostatic on the way out?

Try looking at the roller that the hydrostatic lever(joystick) connects to. We had the same problem a few years ago with our NH TX68 and we were also told it was the circuit board, cheaper option

if it is the hydro the bill for pump motor oil and filters plus removal of pipes etc for flushing could be between £15-20k. thats if the pump and motor are available on the shelf. Stan Briggs sourced one for me in texas on a new holland dealers shelf some years ago. nothing available in europe and a 9 week lead time to get new pump and motor made due to summer shut downs in european factories. some of the valves etc where out of stock until production restarted so a rebuild was not an option either. replace the pump and motor as a pair as if one is knackered the debris of that has gone through the other.

Old Post I know but just wondering did you ever find the problem, my tx68 plus is doing the very same, so frustrating! Thanks James

Hi Jim , no never could find problem dealer came out several times to no avail I have learnt to live with it some days she doesn’t do it another day she can surge for an hour or more, but I do find it does it more first thing in the morning. But when it does it , I get like a electric sizzling noise from the circuit board in the arm rest. If you do find a cure please let me know as l find the Tx a cheap combine with decent output to run for only 4 weeks a year.

Yeah it's very frustrating, I'll let you know if I find the problem no hassle , mine only does it when it's at full running temputure during the middle of the day more so, but I'm going to try route the problem if I get a few rainy days 👍

Bad earth or supply voltage wavering? Alternator ?
New alternator last year actually, have a wiring diagram here now so going to try figure it out to see what wire does what and what voltage it should be doing trouble is it's not consistent does it sometimes and could go grand

Been at it since, trying differnt things and talking to about a million people about it 😂and a dealer my father got talking too had a simular problem, crawl in from the front of the combine to the gearbox on the right hand side three quarters ways up there is a sensor, 4th gear sensor I think its called longer sensor than what's on the rest of the combine like fan or drum etc etc, you have to take the top off the gearbox to get in at it not a massive job and take it out, I got one put it in and Improved it really good but still not 100% instead of shooting off in bursts like it always did it's now a really slow gradual build up of speed sometimes not all the time, more investigating and I'm puzzled why, if I put my hand in at the bord under the hydrostatic lever and push it to one side I can make it speed up by just gently pushing it. Before i done anything I had the bord out driving it and was fiddling with it trying to get it to speed up and couldn't no matter what I done to the bord shaked it, pressed it one way another way etc etc couldn't get it to go wrong and now I can,so now there is obviously something a miss with the bord haven't takin it back out to investigate what on the bord is causing the problem yet, the joys of machines hope this might help some of yous
Summary the sensor on the right hand side of gearbox definitely improved my machine and its not surging rapidly anymore so definitely done something for it but not 100 % yet

Well lads, having the same problem with combine ever find a exact solution? I’m going to try the sensor on the gearbox now but just wondering is there anything else.

I assume you know if the driveshafts are removed the combine can be run and checked without having to field test it's been nearly a quarter of a century since i last worked on them but am sure to set top gear speed there was a pot on pc board that was adjusted to limit speed because in theory it could do nearly 30mph, if sensor in box gets metal on it problems will occur.

Hello.
4th gear sensor is fitted on the left hand side behind clipper and is 3 pin sensor. (power, gnd, signal)
All is do is apply 12v to pin 6 on 6way connector on hydrostat drive pcb fitted below FNR lever.
