In need of some new boots before winter for ploughing with naud that has 14"share and board working width. New to me tractor on 600/65r38 and 480/65r28. The rears are michelins and seem to measure close to 530 actual width. Currently plough with different tractor on 420/85r34 and get along fine especially when slippery, wont be using this tractor anymore before suggested. Can i change rears of new tractor to 520/70 r38 and keep existing 480/65r28 fronts? I think a true 600/65r38 will leave a lot of trampling and be more slippy. Thanks

Cheers I checked the calculators before but I'm still a bit undecided. The naud is very old and there's not much spare even with the 420s. There is possibility i could change the plough to suit tyres as well. The 600 are well worn but not quite racing slicks yet and found them slippy even on grass in general. Been reading up all the tyre threads would the 520 be considered a good all rounder?
I was planning on changing before ploughing as not much tread and perished, one flat this morning so might as well bring it forward, save any hassle at harvest.

Yes you can. 520/70r38 is a good all round in my opinion. 18.4r38 should also be similar but probably need narrower rims

600/65r38s are an awful tyre, they're too wide for their height and won't grip. I don't know anyone who has had a second set of them. They're either replaced with 520/70r38 or if changing fronts and there's enough clearance, 580/70r38.

Can mix and match profile ratios as long as you work across the Michelin chart and keep tyre heights the same.
Interesting Boohoo saying 600 are too wide etc. I agree 600 are a floating tyre, narrower ones are grippier. My 600's had lived a life for someone else first though.

You could go 650/60R38 and keep your fronts the same.
Think i will bite the bullet and change all four. So either 580/70r38 and 480/70r28, 520/70r38 and either 420/70r28 or 480/65r28. If going the narrower on back would i be better with narrower fronts to match. Its mf7480 with front links, doesnt drill and no loader. Thanks

I'd go with 580/70r38 and 480/70r28. 520/70r38, like the current 600/65r38 are too low for a 7480.
If you think the 580s will be too wide for ploughing, 520/85r38 and 420/85r28 are another option.
yes thats what i was generally thinking but as above last few comments i will have to see whats available as amount of stuff ive been refunded for due to lack of availability has been shocking this year. Thanks

Could you plough at 16 inch instead of 14?
Yeah it's on the cards by change of plough or try those furrow extenders for just one season.
