Tyre sizes NH 7635

Hi all,

currently have 13.6 38 on the rear of the tractor and will have to check fronts tomorrow but does anyone know if 16.9 28 and 16.9 38 will fit a 1997 NH 7635 and preferably not knacker the 4wd (particularly when the 4 wheel braking comes in when I occasionally do road work)

Thanks

Think if you go to 16.9x38 on the rear, you'll need 13.6x28 on the front.
16.9x38s weren't specified for the TL100 (the TL being the same tractor, only younger than the 7635).

Thanks for this Agrimax, how can I tell if it is going to be correct? I have read the chart there and can’t see 16.9 38 being listed, does this mean it will be too big for the machine? Last thing I want to do (as said) is cause issues to the 4wd

A relative had a tractor like that up 8 or 9 years ago . It was definitely on 16.9 x 34 rears, and could have been on 14.9 x 24 fronts. Or 13.6 x 24s. Not sure on the fronts.

I wouldnt go to 16.9 x 38s on the rear . It will go like hell , but smell a hill a mile away.

A neighbour had an MF 4355 up to 6 months ago , and it was on wide low profile tyres . Something like 540/65 x 34s if that is possible. It came over from the UK on those. It looked very well on them . I presume you would have to get rims to suit those tyres , and couldn't just fit them to 16.9 rims .

Thanks for the replies, didn’t get an update for some reason. The tyres I looked at had rims included. The 13.6 38 on the back are indeed very narrow. In an ideal world I would just pick up a set of wider tyres that would go on the rim if that would work. Hills aren’t really an issue for us, very unusual for us to be fully loaded and we don’t do much roadwork anyhow. The 4wd issue and arch clearance is my biggest concern.

13.6 will be on a 12 inch rim. 18.4 would need a 16 inch ring, but tyre would be too high so would be 18.4 by 34 to match front

Fronts are 280/85 R28 (11.2R28) and in good condition. Would it be a ridiculous suggestion to change the rears to a compatible wider tyre/rim and keep the fronts the same width?

Standard equivalent upgrade from 13.3 38 would be 16.9 34.
Everyone wants 16.9 34 rears. Rims and tyres are hard to find cheaply.

16.9 38 would be a squeeze on the 12" rear rims, but are only 2" taller on radius to fit under the rims.
Fronts would need to match too.
Hard to find cheaply is the word .

I've done an upgrade on my 4630, which involed 13.6 38 being swapped out for 16.9 34 and fronts changed from 12.4 24 for 13.6 24.

Now 16.9 34 are actually a tiny bit bigger than 13.6 38 when you look at the rolling circumference but close enough.

Anyway, the TL range didn't come with 16.9 38 as stated earlier but the later ones, T5000 series (bigger ones in the range)could be.

Important if changing rears to make sure matched pairs, ie fronts go up by the same size as rears to protect the 4wd, as mentioned by the op.

Surprised @Nearly hasn't put his chart up ;)

There is another very good one that I'll put up. Again from a member on here.

I'm not up on metric sizes I'm afraid, but this does help.

Thanks again for the replies, the set I was looking at have now gone. I suppose to simplify things, is there a wider Rear tyre that I can get to go straight on to my existing rims?

480/70R38 or 420/85R38. Both of which have the same rolling circumference within a smidgin I think, but are wider 16.9R38 swaps.
Best bet is to change your tractor for one with suitable wheels or to buy a set of four rims and tyres. I like 420/70R34 on that size of tractor.
