UK and Canada agree roll-over trade terms...

LONDON/TORONTO (Reuters) - Britain and Canada struck a rollover trade deal on Saturday to protect the flow of $27 billion-worth (£20.32 billion) of goods and services between them after Brexit, and vowed to start talks on a bespoke agreement next year.

As Britain prepares to end its transition out of the European Union on Dec. 31, it has negotiated multiple rollover bilateral deals to maintain trade, with many simply replacing the terms the bloc had already agreed.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson joined Canada’s Justin Trudeau and their respective trade ministers on an online call to mark the deal, which paves the way for a tailor-made agreement covering more areas such as digital trade, small businesses, the environment and women’s economic empowerment.

“Today’s agreement underpins 20 billion pounds worth of trade and locks in certainty for thousands of jobs,” Liz Truss, the UK’s international trade secretary, said in a statement.

Her Canadian counterpart Mary Ng said the transitional agreement “largely replicates” the EU deal on tariff reductions and provisions for labour and environment.

Sensible outcome for both parties. Roll over the existing deal.

This is just the most recent of many trade deals that have been ‘rolled over’, covering something like 50 countries and representing about 10% of UK exports. By ‘rolling over’ it just means we can trade with those countries in the sam3 way that the we have in the EU.
Whilst is obviously good news, it’s still that big deal we need with our nearest neighbours, or anything that will allow the UK economy to fly any higher than it already is. These are the ‘easy’ deals to do, and they’re taking plenty long enough!

Scotland could well just rollover straight back into the EU, simples. :)
Just after the EU ref I was glad that the majority in Wales voted leave if it had been just England the moaners would have been unbearable, they were bad enough as it was.
Since that though I have thought that perhaps it would have been better if remain had a majority in Wales, then England could have just left the UK leaving Scotland, Wales and NI as the UK and still a EU member and England would be out of the EU as its the UK that is the member, everyone happy :) :)

The EU already said that wont happen

No, they haven't. In reality it would be few years as there would be a lot to sort out in Scotland in order to form a new independent country, let alone applying for EU membership. Bozza has suggested pressuring the EU to block or delay any Scottish application, which will go down really well north of the border and play further into the SNP's hands.

Because Boris is so well thought of , the EU will do him a favour! Not.
More likely they would expedite Scotland joining to give him the middle finger.
But things aren't sorted ....yet. Still time for a 180 😀 He may be a hero for the EU yet

Why wouldn’t you want it to?
I didnt say I didnt want it to happen the EU have a set of criteria to join, st present Scotland dont meet some of them, if the EU ignore it then other countries trying to get in will kick off, rightly, I have always said if the Scots want to leave the UK its entirely their decision, if they do it will take several years to sort out, while they do they will either have to try and roll over the UK deals, go over to WTO tariffs or do their own deals, the big issue is the currency one, they dont have a central bank to back any new scots currency, Westminster has said they cant use the pound so it will require a lot of horse trading to sort
