"UK Drought! How long will it last?"

I don't really know but I guess it'll last until we have some proper rain. (y)
Checked our spring yesterday and I was extremely surprised to see how strong it was running despite only 10mm during April.

Statistics show the UK as a whole has seen just 41% of the average April rainfall

We had 3mm on 30 April. The first rain for over a month. Last year we had 137mm in April and generally have somewhere approaching 100.

You have not seen a drought until you have farmed in Australia for a couple of years without any meaningful rain.

I think the UK is so heavily populated the effects are felt more due the fact that we use more than 17 billion litres of water every day. It serves the needs of more than 60 million consumers across UK households and businesses now that's a lot of water!(y)

Don't know where the 62.5 mm came from in scotland, must be all the slaver's that come out of Sturgeon's gob, here in fife we've had about 3 mm.

Instead of HS2 they should build a bloody great pipe from the Lake District where they have plenty of high quality water through the Midlands all the way to London where it can replace the crap they are drinking. I never drink real ales from London Breweries because the one thing they can't get out of the water beside metaldehyde is oestrogen from the contraceptive pill.
