one thing a lot of people have not taken into account is at the end of 2019 MF off loaded a lot of tractors in to dealers that had to registered in that year , because of the emissions etc & a lot of these tractor took some moving , so the MF figures for 2019 are not what they look to be
I think dealers were earning more shifting mf than say fendt. In 2016 they tried much harder to get me to try an mf. I did try it, and gave it back.

I watch all his YouTube films and I’m really pretty dissapointed with all the Deere issues.he really has a moan about a lot of the problems encountered.
nick...

I think you'd have a shock if you saw how some of the gear he works on was operated and maintained. Remember he doesn't get to see the stuff that's a year or two old and in warranty, dealers are a bit thin on the ground and expensive so tend to be avoided.. A lot of the stuff he works on has high hours and would have been moved on by a lot of UK farms/contractors.
The JD he's just done the engine on had 10,000+ hours and was that abused the bonnet was smashed off it. The Kubota he's trying to rebuild only has 4000 hours.

They have with a tie up with versatile, unless that’s now not happening?

They do and they look good but the M8's aren't going to Europe I don't think.
Perhaps the Cummins motors don't meet EU regs?
They'll also need a bigger range again if they are going to compete with the big boys, especially in North America.

I think you may be right with the Cummins, but interestingly up to 129-130hp they have some near 30% market share!

don't care if they are expensive to buy or cheap - all that matter is to me is the difference between what I pay for it and what I sell it for plus how reliable / good performance it gives through the years I own it

I can't see them being a brand that retains high resale so they probably do need to sit in the low capital cost part of the market to stack up I guess
Do you buy extra warranty with the fendts or just hope that regularly servicing will stop the big bills?

Does not make any difference, the table shows tractors registered in 2019. Theres no excuses column.

Anyway, are you sure you don't mean 2018? According to the AEA website - Data released after one year delay. Note: market shares in 2018 will have been affected by high levels of pre-registrations in late 2017.

they get sales figures every month on new tractor sales & 2020 will be very disappointing for MF

Agricultural Tractors: The agricultural tractor market in the first half of 2020 was adversely affected by the impact of Covid-19 on supply chains. Production plants across Europe were temporarily closed and, even where they stayed open, supply chains were disrupted. The market would probably have been challenging anyway, given the effect of extreme weather in late 2019 and early 2020 on farming activities. As a result, registrations in the first seven months of the year were 24% lower than in the same period of 2019. Once the first wave of Coronavirus restrictions were eased and the weather effects diminished, the market picked up and registrations in the closing months of the year were substantially higher than a year before. Nevertheless, registrations for the year as a whole were still 14% lower than in 2019, totalling 10,380 machines. This was similar to the levels seen in 2015 and 2016, the lowest of recent years. https://aea.uk.com/industry-insight/tractor-statistics/

Tough year for all brands.

Well looks like the sh!t mf tractors that will 100% give you problems out sold the untouchable fendt even though they can do 29mpg 🙈😂
Local now expanded Fendt Dealers sold more of them & less masseys ive heard last year.
that 8S has taken just too long folks bought into other brands thats how i see it & how that all sits with the mothership ive never quite figured out.
Such a conflict of insterest having several brands under same ownership, yet neither has anything to do with the others?

Until we see 2020 market share figures, how does he/she know ?

Classic Tractor publishes the figures for the last 12 months. They have a chap that goes through the DVLA figures and he extracts the data. The big manufacturers surely have someone doing something very similar and I believe there are firms offering such market share data, plus they will know deals they have lost and won to get a handle on how things are shaping up.

We’ll wait and see. Locally MF seem to be doing well but more importantly for these figures they’re having great success with the large veg fleets. This time last year I could barely get parked in our local dealers yard as it was full of tractors about to be delivered to one grower.
