Umbilical injector and flow metering

Looking at investing in an umbilical injector for spreading digestate on our land. Firstly looking for advise on the best type of injector to go for whether a disc injector is the best option or trailing shoe? PBE slurry spike looks interesting in this months Profi anyone got experience using one of these?

Secondly as we are going to be in an NVZ in the near future is it worth investing in a flow meter? Currently got a trimble 750 with ez pilot and using farmplan software. Is there any way of linking these to create application maps/records?

if you are going to flow meter i would say stay away from any deep type injection there are a few shallow disc injectors there now get the widested one you can as with flow meter you don't have to drive to fast , we got out of that years ago when they started asking for flow meters as we would be all the time changing fields ,

Hi depending on what crops your looking to put digestate on my choice would be dribble bar for arable crops and shallow disc injector for all grassland others will say diffrent but have a look and make your own mind up what suits best.dont listen to salesmens crap.flowmeter wise its nearly a must to allow fairly accurate application with these applicators.

Defo need flow meter as peppa says I would prob just go with a dribble bar a lot cheaper to run than an injector, 2 many wearing parts on injector.

The majority of the spreading would be on grassland for silage. Who makes the best injector for this? Have heard complaints of strips being burnt in the grass by injectors is this a common problem?

to get around that we had a nurse tank we put 2 or 3 truck loads in and had a ph tester and mixed a few bags of lime , some farmers used to be happy if we burned the grass off so they could plough the field , beer is what we used to spread ,

Is the problem caused by the acidity of the slurry? I had been told that it was less of a problem if the slurry is separated as there is less residue left on the surface? I assume also that over-application causing the slots to overflow would be a factor?

in our day most of what we spread was acid and we did not respect the rules so used deep leg subsoiler and put 20k gls under ground per acer , the field would be soft for days and there was some overflow and the headlands was the worst , lots of paper filled out at night with fields being covered just on paper

Some farmers round us thort they wer going to get the same ammount of slurry on with injector as splash plate.. they ended up with burnt strips and then cursed the contractor..
