In the market for a new 1000m reeler.

Any recommendations on what to go for?

Galvanized rather than painted?

Which drive is best chain or gear?

Drop out or fixed?

Pretty pleased with the tramspread we have, bought second hand, have 3 bobbins now with 1 frame.
Definable go 5"+.
Bought some 5" pipe off Mastek earlier this year, its there own brand seemed good quality. @£15/m Inc couplers.
Coupler can add near £1/m

Which pipe, nitrile or tpu? Seems reasonably priced for 5”.

I've written this before but do not buy a trailed reeler, not ever. Anyone who has ever used one very quickly comes to realise they have made some very bad life choices that led to them having to use one. Don't ask me how I know this. Mounted on A frame etc, far far easier life.

We’ve got a trailed slurrykat 1000m reeler and find it no problem at all for our own use. Find it handy to that we can use a small tractor for rolling in and out
