Before buying anything ask yourself… “how much pain can I f**king handle” … pumping really isn’t for the faint hearted and pumping with f**ked kit really really isn’t for the faint hearted.. remember when buying second hand Slurry kit 95% of people don’t sell slurry kit until it’s f**ked .. the other 5% sell it because it’s broken them mentally and physically and they’ve thrown in the towel …

when it’s going well it’s the best job in the world imo … when it’s not going well, putting your head in the PTO seems a kind way too end it
Exactly this, 👏
Also make sure whoever fills the tower in the winter is the same person who has to try to make it go down an umbilical pipe.... here theyre different people. 🤦‍♂️

I never found it that stressful to be honest, just make sure you have someone to monitor the pump end and switch it of if needed. I was never a fan of one man outfits but maybe tech has changed it now.

Iv done it for the last 10 years, last year and the year before I did between 250-280 days of pumping 💩… there’s some f**king awful days to be had where you should just go home, reset and come back again fresh and ready to get covered in it 😂

Does anyone have any experience with Snaptite orange pu pipe?
The orange TSX range from snaptight is the heaviest pipe they do as far as I can remember. Never see much of it about,it’s bloody expensive and has very thick walls. Lasts years but it’s a twit to go on the reeler tidy after you put a sponge through it unless your dragging a quad bike up the field with it 😂 I’ve seen it mainly used for transfer work between lagoons with no issues,it’s just left out on the floor permanently. I wouldn’t buy any unless it was being left out permanently as a main feed pipe on the side of a track etc.

I bought a new length of TSX,I didn’t keep it long, just wouldn’t go tidy on the reeler even with double pipe rollers
Made the mistake of buying 1000m of 4.5” TL a few years ago, that was total crap,it just kept blowing and splitting
We got 4” TL and it’s been no bother

We use the TSX for drag pipe as the only pipe to withstand stones on a big estate and have no problem reeling 800m of it on a tramspread bobbin. It is fairly expensive but not as expensive as all the other crap we have tried and splits before you have done 1000m3

This should passage be essential reading when you are thinking of getting a degree in Slurry management😁. You could not pay me enough to touch slurry!

Do you reel on 800m in one go,all connected together?

One thing I will say is that anyone using trailed reelers is a masochist. They are the work of the fudging devil. Pain in the chuff to reel up with properly, run wheelings when it's tender and all sorts.

I took the staff to the pub the day I sold mine 🤣
It might suit some umbilical outfits, but definitely didn’t suit us🙄

We struggle to have fields over 200m long 🤣
Lucky you we normally have 800m 5inch transfer then use 400m 4inch then 400m drag over stoney ground. we have tried moving the 5inch with the hose humper while spreading and the weight of it just splits it on the stones
Tried every different way with every brand of pipe but finally sort of got it right with the right bits of kit

The longest pump we do is 3000m but it’s all small fields,8/12ac if your lucky, but the norm is 6ac down to 2ac 🙃
