Umblical slurry

Evening all.at the moment have slurrykat umblical system with 3x 200 metre front section reeler and 5 x200 metre section rear reeler.rear reeler is all 5 inch on stortz .im going buying a new system and thinking of going open reeler back and front with bobbin drop out type reeler.was going to go all 100 metre stortz on front for small fields and 5 200 metre all rolled up on back to save a lot of ropes tieing on every pipe .hope to then do all reeling on the front .is this ok on small fields and narrow lanes etc.at the moment I have rollers for keeping pipes tight while rolling up.is it ok not to have these on bobbin reeler.would love and Reilly appricate some feed back

Get an open drop out reeler you can keep all your pipes connected when you reel in or out saves time to. When you reel in keep it all tight as so there is no air in the pipe or it will soon become a mess and reeling out will be a pain. I try to lap the pipe half over the other working left to right. I also reel out driving forwards so pipes running under the middle of the tractor. Again keep it tight enough that it doesnt have loops in it and adjust as you drive, either reel in to pull it tight or drive forwards and pull without reeling @mtx.jag is the one to ask 👍🏻

We run both types of reelers,1000m random wrap for the front and 1200m split by 6 segments on the back.
i would rather use the random wrap all the time but majority of farms we are reeling up on cow tracks no wider than the tractor so we have to use the segmented reeler.
As far as cutting pipes down to 100m length,I wouldn’t bother personally, you will always be dragging a coupling up and down the field and marking the ground.

sounds like you need one of them SlurryQuip reelers that's pivot side to side on a spool to move the pipe along the bobin, pic taken from https://www.facebook.com/CallumHughesMachinery/

We are all random wrap reelers & would have nothing else now , I would never cut a hose as sooner or later it need to be cut for a repair, keep them as long as possible , with the right reeler you would get that hose one one reeler on the front end if only 4 & 5" hose

Thanks a lot for all the replys.im now thinking stay sections on back and random on front.whats yer taughts on carry small section on front for maybe 100 metre pipe

I wouldn’t bother with 100m lengths unles you need them around a twisty yard?
never use them in field as the coupling will drag the grass up

I get on well with a 1000m bobbin on the front ideally I’d like the same on the back 5” on one 4 on the other then can swap them when needed I manage okay on narrow lanes normally just pull two pipes or more in at once from the field or yard whichever is easier
