Un-sheeted load police fine

Not sure about the legal bit with tippers . Mostly the aggro comes from the quarries who insist that a load be sheeted before it can leave the quarry . I think they get a lot of grief from towns where tippers pass through , with blown sand etc . Our local quarry used to have a drive through platform that the driver could stand on and sheet , but that was quickly "H and S ed " and now a roll over with access from ground level is required .

All lorries leaving loaded out of my local quarry were ordered to sheet over before leaving or dont come again ,,no excuses when they are fitted with roll over nets

although the copper done him for unsheeted load ,,, I am sure that if the goods move on the vechicle bed then they are a insecure load even if they have not fallen off … again a example of too many laws that can be inturpretated different by both us and the police

Can’t understand the issue we all have with number plate usage.
We got a local vehicle graphics company to make us some flexible, magnetic ones.
Seem to recall they were less than a tenner each, similar money to normal ones, all done in the number of the particular tractor, no problem fitting or storing them after.

That's a very good idea. (y) Presumably you had to show the V5C for each tractor before they would make them for you. I have spare normal ones in each vehicle and the HGV frames mounted on the back of each trailer so we can just slide the correct ones in & out as required. I have 3 hire tractors here during harvest & the plates need to match the same registered keeper.

You really should have contested that. I used to carry up to three dogs in the back of my pickup. No issues in 22 years and the dogs absolutely loved it. If your case was valid then every car carrying a dog with its window open should be ticketed, which again is absurd. Typical clueless plod with nothing better to do but harass people going about their business.
Wish I had but I've just ignored it and carry on ....... had no trouble since !

Last time I hired a tractor, which is very rare , they supplied me with a spare Reg plate to go on the trailer . Don't know this is the norm .

About 30 years ago a girl I was at college with was following a quarry lorry, a rock rolled off and hit her in the head, she survived but was never the same and died a few years later. I seem to remember sheets/nets on loads not long after that

Can you remember the website's basic details please? It's usually a faff to get the V5C from the hirer and show it to the garage/dealer I'm getting them from. I guess they just access the DVLA database.

We have a spare plate in every tractor, £8 it costs, if we ever swap trailers for road use we stick the plate into the trailer holder, takes 2 minutes and keeps plod off us. Sounds like some folk just like to be pulled and make themselves targets for future stops. They must have more time on their hands then us?

I kind of agree, ain’t got time to faff about changing plates, one off any tractor registered to the farm will do.
