Underground water tank

As a follow on to my water pipe thread, the next problem I have is the 50 + year old concrete water tank is leaking badly !, when we doug in front of the tank to connect the new pipe, we found that the water was leaking all around the tank, and after emptying the tank I got inside and the concrete has gone soft, so time for a replacement I think.
Looking @ a 10000 litre underground tank, Had thought of a concrete one, but not many people making them, and those that are, need a slab of concrete putting in place for the bottom of the tank !
then theres plastic, anyone any experience of them ? on the odd year that we have a dry summer, it has been known for the spring to dry up, will a empty plastic tank stand up to the side loading ?
any recomendations where to buy?
Thanks in advance AGAIN Happy hillbily

What about lining your tank with nicoflex or Firestone flexible pond liner?

Had thought of re rendering the inside again but the thought of replacing the tank and being able to forget about it for the next 20-30 years does rather appeal to me !
I think a liner would be rather difficult to do, my grandfather made the tank in one piece by using tin sheets as shuttering so its one complete cube of concrete with a rather small man hole at the top, and getting the inlet/outlet/overflow pipes sealed would be tricky !

I know BIG jump in prices ! Will have to do my sums, atm a tap open fully will discharge 40 litres per minute, so will have to find the sweet spot for the plate cooler first and then work back from there, but as I have found out with the pipe BIG is always better ! :D
