As you’ve guessed, it’s a JCB. It’s a year old now. Had shims put in at about a month old which I was reasonably accepting of. However it appears to need additional ones now which is a concern.

shims on a new vehicle chassis to level it up? when we had the last steel framed barn put up a few years back, the foundation pads were put in with a laser level and all the stantions made to suit, when the erectors came to put the frame up, they used thin pieces of steel plate to level up a few of the stantions ? Not much at all, but i was quite impressed at the attention to detail? Now a JCB, its not like the frame been made by the local blacksmith ? But in a multimillion pound factory with the latest precisiion engineering tools and jigs? I would like a comment from someone from JCB or anyone with experience of largescale manufacturing?

They are allowed a certain amount of tolerance was the spill I was given when it happened to me,not being funny but I don’t spend 55k on a machine to have some bits of metal off a workshop bench chucked in to level it up

It would almost be easier if it was your old one. No, it was newdid you buy it brand new or did it have a few hours on? Could be the one I sent back

Unfortunately I don’t remember, in regards to if it’s jcb or a industry figure then @ACEngineering maybe able to shed more information on that

It appears to be quite common on JCB
One would have thought they would had addressed this issue but they dont seem bothered. Seen machines 10 years old with 10 or 12mm spacer one side

Sounds bizarre to me. Out of interest hang a plumb bob off the headstock and lift it up in the air, see if the boom is at 90 deg to the ground when at height 
if it isnt then refuse the machine
Edit If you mark the ground where the plumb bob rests with the boom a few feet of the ground then lengthen the plumb bob and lift the boom up higher and see if there is much difference? ideally you would expect them to match up assuming tyre pressures same both sides and the ground is level etc.
