University Project - Monitoring System for Farms

Hello everyone!

In the process of a university project at WU Vienna, my colleagues and I are working with a team that developed a technology to simplify monitoring through automation. With the help of an algorithm, the system can learn the normal state of an object and detect any deviations from it. This normal state is defined by various inputs (e.g. video cameras or microphones). Since it is a software, it can be integrated into existing systems and thus relieve security personnel, as they no longer have to be constantly alert, but only when the system triggers an alarm. The special feature is therefore the algorithm, which can also adapt to new situations through machine learning and continuously detects previously undefined problems.

What we are now asking ourselves is in what areas and how this software could be used, or in what form similar (or the same) technologies are already being used.

One potential use case we came up with was farming, especially livestock. We were hoping that you could give us some input on the potential uses such a technology could have in your sector.

All opinions, ideas, or even criticism would be a great help to us and our project. If you have any questions, feel free to comment here or PM me directly.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and maybe helping us out a bit!

Heat (in season) detection in cattle

Ill health in cattle, specifically dairy cattle.

Similar algorithms, or at least trying to achieve the same goal probably already exist in products like ‘heat time’ and ‘moocalll’
