Traffic Cop David Minto was in #Stokesley when this vehicle passed me as he waited regarding an unconnected matter. The vehicle isn’t appropriate for transporting the load and the items weren’t secured whatsoever. Driver reported for the offence. Suitable advice given. #RoadSafety

Yup, athough during lockdown me and the traffic cop who was following behind me passed a guy restrapping a fully assembled trampoline to the back of his pickup and the traffic cop never even put down his doughnut

Troughs are, what, 9’ long? How short are the beds on pickups these days? I’d have thought with the tail door down and a couple of straps holding them they would look okay to most.

Bed will be about 4' ish with door down you could be about 5'6". Only problem is that isn't how he loaded them

Some people can't help themselves, that's just asking for trouble !
But doesn't help with a lot of these new pickups, they don't have ladder racks, or even tie down rails/hooks.
My old ford ranger XLT had tie down bars on the rear tub for tying or straping stuff down.
My new mk4 thunder has 4 little shackles on the sides of the tub held in place by a M6 or m8 bolt, aboslutly useless for anything heavier than your weekly shopping !

Does that mean the modern machines struggle to take a standard pallet then? Wow!

Last pickup I used was a Mazda 2000(?) which memory tells me had a fair bit more than that.

No they still take a euro pallet ok our D max is about 1.5 square at the top, I think most are about that

I was only thinking of a double cab

If they dropped tail gate and ratchet strapped and put warning marker at rear would possibly been ok?
A holes about ,chuck anything in back ,and often speeding, only takes one thing to tamp out and could kill someone behind or on kerb ?

If they had them sticking over the back at the centre and ratchet strapped to tow ball it woukd be bad enough and pretty serious should a van or bus etc rear end it but having them sticking out on the traffic side is flipping redicilous and makes thing harder for every one else!!

There's a green feed bag, poking out of the truck bed, it's highly likely it was a farmer going to feed some sheep or moving troughs to another field
