email from Scottish power this am. We are installing smart meters again, email to me.
Excitedly rung the fools to be told smart meters only, not any form of upgrade and ur area can't have a smart anyway due to poor signal.
Another half hour wasted, Bunch of muppets.

We are upgrading from single phase to 3 phase on the 31st July. Hopefully it will all go smoothly! SSE were on the ball after easing of lockdown, but EDF were a joke and had to really push to get them to nail a date down to fit the meter. It was all meant to happen in April, but of course now it is happening at the start of harvest!

Bugger! So much for it happening today and going smoothly. Maybe it is the heat, maybe its because its a Friday, but SSEs Cherry picker broke down and so they can not come to me! Had to cancel EDFs meter fitter as well. That has now mucked the job up because i do not really want them fiddling around at harvest time!!

Always amazes me the number of temporary traffic lights for roadworks which sit for a week, but no roadworks get done until a Sunday or bank holiday. Maximum effect, minimum effort.

We had a set outside my house in the village for a week for water works , unfortunately the morons put it on the wrong side of the road so we had traffic lights around nothing and 4 bollards aroudn the actual hole you had to negotiate in the middle of the traffic lights

I am fuming. Have spent all afternoon trying to sort this out. Email, phone calls, texting. Its all made so bloody complicated so you can not do anything yourself. Different phone numbers, no one in the office. Am a bit fed up with it tonight.
SSE are coming on Monday, we shall see, but I can not get a meter fitter for Monday. Hopefully SSE can just put the line in and leave our single phase in, then the meter person can just come at a different time and connect up the new supply and take out the old one. Which is even more annoying because if that was the case SSE could have come on the 7th July and but the supply in and then I could have just got the meter fitted whenever!!:mad:

None of us have any sympathy for utilities do we
Not an awful lot, however, I have found WPD to be OK, when you find the right people...

Local developer wasnted a new cable laying underr our lane. I had agreed on the basis that the trench and access through the hedge was 0.6-1m in width. Contractor turned up on site and wanted 1.2m, I said No. Then had ameeting with WP engineer and contracto who now said 3-4m through hedge. I said No Way, WPD guy said, OK, we'll mole it! Developer VERY pee'd!! :ROFLMAO:

not sure how much truth there is in this but I heard today that if you require three phase for the installation of an electric car charging station you can get it at preferential rates, especially if it is to be available for anyone to use,

My sympathies. Had similar 5 years ago.
Reckon my organisational skills are pretty good but trying to make a power upgrade happen is not for the faint hearted.

I have had lots of apologies this morning from SSE, and they are here this morning connecting up our 3 phase. They are also going to put a phase in to each of our meters to keep us up and running,( we have 2 single phase supplies at the moment), until such time that i can get a 3 phase meter fitted. Though i am bracing myself for something going wrong!
