Upgrading Trimble signal

Just to avoid confusion, with folks saying they are running RTX.
There are three versions of RTX.
RangePoint RTX, 15cm pass to pass, annual subscription.
CenterPoint RTX, 4cm pass to pass, intermediate accuracy unlock required, annual subscription.
CenterPoint Fast RTX, 2cm pass to pass, high accuracy unlock required, annual subscription.

Hi

I have recently purchased a new to me sprayer which has Trimble CFX-750 screen running section control and EZ steering through an AG25 receiver. Currently it is running on the free EGNOS signal.

I would be interested to hear others opinions, would the EGNOS signal be good/accurate enough to run the section control or is it worth upgrading to the rangepoint signal? RTK would not be an option on our average/cropping

thanks in advance
I have run my sprayer with Ez pilot on RTX range point for the last few years and put in miles upon miles of tramlines with it. However, even though my drill tractor uses the same correction signal, no matter how I set it up I cannot get the two to align at 24m. What I mean is, if I drill putting in tramlines, first pass with the sprayer I make an A/B line on the first tram, by the time I’m half way across the field I’m not quite on the right line and by the other side I’m out sufficiently for it to be annoying . I imagine with RTK this wouldn’t be an issue at all.
I Haven’t put section control on it, but I would have no issues doing SC on RTX.

I tend to just put tramlines in with the sprayer now, with a 4m drill there’s 6 margins for error with overlap/miss whereas the sprayer covers the span.

I believe it's a temporary unlock as long as you have an active subscription.
Yes, I think that's how it works. I've just done a hard reset and checked unlocks after to make sure the vr was OK. Glonass was locked, but became available when I re-applied my RTX (rp) sub.

One incongruous thing is that a 750 lite comes with Glonass as standard. Vlad is getting a little haphazard with his satellite maintenance, so Glonass is not as useful as it was.

Morning Bob,

we can help with the Rangepoint RTX £295 per year or discounts on multiple years. 01480 861824. We have given the signal free with new displays previously and there aren't many that don't come back for a 2nd year.

This comparison chart may help. Rangepoint makes a big difference with the Ag25 antenna.

A bit Off subject I hope you don’t mind, thought it may be worth asking as all the experts are here.

Is there a way of doing a simulated speed on the Trimble cfx 750 so I can carry out nozzle jug tests? I have the field iq aswell and I know there’s the jump start option but obviously you have to continuously hold the switch to use this feature.

Cant find a way of doing a simulated speed?

Thanks
Bob

We operate two Case tractors with N trip on RTK, and I have to say accuracy is barely better than Rangepoint RTX, and we still get dropouts occasionally.Maybe its the signal,or am I alone on this?
If i had my time again I would have stuck with RTX I think, as RTK farming are charging plenty.

The better the accuracy, the higher the requirements for proper operation. Would hardly ever have dropouts on Egnos...

If your RTK signal provider charges plenty, build your own RTK base at less than the subscription for one tractor for a year.

Dropouts can occur for many reasons. Low satellite visibility kills RTX as well as RTK, even Egnos at some point. Helps if your system supports all available GNSS constellations (GPS, Glonass, Galileo, Beidou, the base and rovers obviously).

RTK dropouts occur if the correction signal is lost. Need to have good cellular data coverage for NTRIP. If not available, use radio and if radio coverage has issues, use NTRIP to radio repeaters. There is always a solution if you don't give up. RTX or other satellite based correction signals need perfect visibility towards the southern sky. A pity if there is a mountain that would need to be moved away.

No mountains here but we are a bit spread out distance wise and there are alot of radio/phone signals etc due to population density near London i expect .

More than happy to come and have a look at the issue, Andrew. If all hardware is performing properly, it will be substantially better than RTX. I'll give you a call tomorrow and we will find the cause.
Cheers,
George.

Thanks George, it could be a set up issue?
Next week is probably best for us.

Give my RTK network a Try, 1cm precision
