Hi,

Looking at the following tractor:

Its in norwegian, but not terrible important - it has north of 4000 hours on it, been on a service plan, and looks/sounds to be in good condition. I can get it with RTK/section-control for a decent price, the question is, should i be worried at around 4000 hours? For my use i think its a great buy, im just a bit worried about getting stuck with a huge bill within a short time. Also, would a 2014-model be missing something that the newer versions have im regards to precision agriculture?

About 8 hours south of where this tractor is located. Not many used 500-series around, and i really like the 4-sylinder engine with that much hp and low weight. I could get stung indeed, but is there anything obvious here you would oppose?

Good tractor by all accounts... perfect on a loader...i have a 2010 718 so cant comment much on that model.....is it from a reputable dealer or try and get someone to look over it if you can't get yourself.... Theres a few/ too many stories in the UK of people handing over money and nothing in return. Someone else might have an in depth knowledge of that age of tractor it would be 1 to 2 years old of that model i think.

Its a big dealer here in Norway, so i should be able to get a short warranty-period in the contract - thanks for your perspective Ormond!

We cruised the Fjords last year also. Can't quite remember which one where there was a cable car to take you to the top of the mountains. We took the ride and,at the top of the mountain, above the clouds along with pockets of snow we came across a big Fendt tractor.I think they were doing some work to the footpaths. It was quite bizarre to see this large arable tractor completely out of context.

Buy it. Good tractors especially if it's been serviced by the dealer.
We're now on our third one, perfect size for what we do.
Only issues we've had are a wheel angle sensor on the last one. Odd oil leak, air pipe that rubbed through because it was cable tied to a steel oil pipe under the cab.
Oh and an idler pulley that failed.
Apart from that a fairly trouble free machine.

Bought a few tractors and they all seem to be well maintained. OEM filters on old kit, that says something abut the owners.

Think you would spend less than a grand to fligh over there and inspect it by yourself. And I would do that if I were you. Tractors in Norway are generally cheaper than in Europe mainland or Uk, but they almost always suffer from corrosion.

Thanks for your replies, got a friend living nearer then me go over and look it over, so guess ill be a Fendt-owner :) Been serviced from a proper dealer all its life, so hopefully no big issues coming up. Also got a small guarantee-window so i can look everything over properly and try every function out.

I’ve had fendts for a few years now. I have no issues with buying at 4000 hours and currently have a old shape 716 with 17000 hours and a much newer 724.

Just check what sat nav you have if you want to make the most of section control. A 2014 machine is likely to have a topcon system. With Agco now owning Trimble there is now no development work with the Topcon system. The user interface with the Trimble based system is much better especially with headlands. Long term it may be better to put a new Trimble or Novotel receiver in the roof and update the software. Novatel receivers are cheaper and are almost identical in operation to Trimble.

Boysground - yea, i got RTK with ntrip and a Novatel receiver, plus section-control activated in the price. Do you know if a 2014-model vs a 2019-model are very different, or do i have pretty much everything covered with this setup/model? Thinking about getting a sprayer and spreader with section-control :)

As long as it has the most up to date software you will be fine. Fendt do software updates each year, if the dealer services the machine its part of the routine. With Ntrip make sure the sim card will have reception in your area or you have a roaming sim.

Is it a specific operator you get that sim-card from? We pretty much only have to operators here in Norway, hope it uses one of those two networks :D

As long as you have reception it won’t matter. Tractor will pick up better than your phone. Mine does swap between companies but I do cover a fair distance and lots of hills.
