V6 Navara

Just been offered a brilliant deal for a Nissan Navara V6, anyone on here got one? or know much about them? i have got a normal 2.5 navara and have had 8 years of trouble free motoring and was looking to change,as clocking up the miles, but this has thrown me a curve ball, MPG will be a big prob i would think!

Thanks

If it is at a good price, which it undoubtedly should be as an outgoing model, I would not hesitate. Only if you need the power though, because the four cylinder old models should be an even better bargain.

Yea its a very good deal and there is no VAT which for me is great, poor off shore boy bought it and 2 months later got paid off and had to get rid quick and took the VAT hit, lots of almost new four cylinders about at good money but can't find any with out VAT, never planed to get another navara, but think there is nothing better than the v6 out there at the mo, the new models seem to be going backwards!!

The only negative I have found is that they don't handle as well as 4-cylinder models. They are a little nose-heavy. It only makes a difference if you drive in a rather 'spirited' fashion, though :)

Can't believe you think this is a good car. My 07 Navara is the worst car I ever had.

Wheel bearings, gear box, axles, electrics, interior. And the cost of spare parts.. I went from a MB G class to a Navara and the spare parts cost at least double. One wheel bearing is about 700 pounds over here. Just the part.

I have had seven D40 Navaras, now. A wheel bearing is £44 VAT inclusive, here.

A fool and his money...

The whole drivetrain is sh!t. I would never ever buy a Navara V6.

Norway is such an over priced country.

Changed both sides. Only done 80k miles. Now, bearing or something in the front diff is broken.

We have a MB G-class. Done 230k miles. Never changed anything except wearing parts such as brake pads.

A neighbour has a last model Navara and doesn't carry or tow to extremes but has just had his chassis break in half. Its broken its back. Not sure if rust is partly to blame or whether it is metal fatigue.
Another farm up the road had an earlier one and its clutch was inadequate and the rear axle failed; two common faults on early versions of that model and subsequently improved.
Nissan went through a bad patch at that time, with the previous model getting a reputation for early catastrophic engine failure. It may have coincided with their financial troubles before being rescued by Renault.

The V6 diesel engine is, of course, a Renault engine, as indeed are the 'new' four cylinder engines fitted to the recently announced new model.
