We are putting in a new variable rate vacuum pump and we have a decision to make between the Delaval DVP 2000 and the GEA RPS 2100 power pack, both on three phase.

Both OK or worth avoiding 1 of them?

We’ve got a GEA RPS 2800, working well but the service interval on the vanes doesn’t seem very long and they cost about £600 each time

Any idea how to cost whether or not it's worth doing?
Got very old fixed speed pumps here. Interested in changing but trying to quantify the potential leccy saving...

No idea if it saves leccy, we changed ours when we put in a new parlour. Much quieter now, the pump runs at tick over most of the time so I assume it saves something

Asked our dairy engineer this yesterday. He says it would take 5 years payback, wouldn't do it with a belt driven pump only direct drive but if you where buying new pumps and motors or a new parlour it would definitely be worth considering.

We are on fingle phase. We've just replaced 2 vp77's with the same. £2500 for the pair v £15k? For variable speed with 3 phase convertors. I decided I would rather keep some cash in the business than spend shitloads again on the promise of future savings.

Sounds cheap! Do they run as a pair or a single and an emergency standby? How many units will they do? 14 point swingover here.

About £3k now for an ABB unit to run a 3ph motor
Do you have one?
Is there any conclusive payback? Got a 6kW motor on my pump, for a 20/40, runs for about 5-6 hours a day including wash time. I guess as my electric price increases, as it almost certainly will , payback will increase.

I’ve gea and a de-Laval on my parlour,as posted the gea is dearer for vanes,I’d go with the de-laval pump.
