I tried to link a pdf picture. It's not a 3" band more 1" bands with an inch gap
Being a tine drill anyway it will have disturbance.
If grass weeds were not an issue would the disturbance matter?

phil, I have used the seedhawk twin opener. It does leave a slightly wider row of plants, but moves more soil, and therefore encourages more blackgrass to grow. It takes more pulling than the narrower tips, but didn't plug, and had better seed placement and depth, because of the bottom plate, and rear facing aperture. I have gone back the narrow tips.

What width of press wheel did you go for?
I went for seedhawks own, which is 4.5" I think. It was a straight swap. They don't shed soil quite as well as a pneumatic tyre, but you also don't get punctures!!

An otico was 30% more expensive from memory.
