I've not decided yet whether to put the rape seed in Terracast or drill.

Have you braced the top arms of the frame in the hopper
The filling augers from Vad used to pull out of the hopper and needed plating
It's amazing what vibrating that hopper will do out the back

Looks good (y)

Have you considered the adjustment of the microswitch? There's a bit of a time delay before the contents of the V2 hopper come out of the end of the spout though the Rapid doesn't start seeding until it hits the bottom stop.

@Brisel
Thanks,I'm still tinkering with it when I'm not sat on the ruddy sprayer,I just picked up the extension cable for the V2 ,so I'll have a play next week,but I think the seed is better going in the Vaderstad,I think I can put up with a bit of delay with the fertilizer.
I've been toying with the idea of putting Avadex through it,Ive got a 7 outlet distribution head,and spreader plates,I'm not too sure if the fan has got enough volume to work over the 4m drill,what do you think worth a try?

I spoke to Ady Salis at Techneat today about using my Terracast V2 for sluggies or Avadex on a 12m set of rolls. He recommended the Avadex head with built in fan or the dose might be uneven due to the granules building up in the centre then falling off in small lumps. They can also do a mod to the metering cartridge for Avadex. It would be worth calling them. You'll also need outlets every 50cm at 60 cm above the ground for full coverage. I'll be fitting a hydraulic fan too so my existing 300w electric fan will be for sale if yours needs upgrading.

I've been modifying again made up a boom now,I've taken the feed metering unit off now and distributor head and sending it back to Techneat for modification for Avadex.

Looks good. Do you think the fan is powerful enough.?
I think it's right on its limit,so I'm going to up grade the fan to a 300w motor.
@Brisel
I've put some Avadex in the machine and it did spread the product across the full width of the drill but it was not even across all the outlets ,so I spoke to Techneat and there's a special head for Avadex so I'm sending it back to get it modified for Avadex,it balances the air flow,also the feed metering unit needs a different fluted roller.

Be wary of the V2 when it comes to low seedrates....we have had horrendous variations across the outlets (up to a consistent 50%), despite techneat's steel ring fix. So we now use our V2 for slug pellets with spreader plates, and have procured a Stocks with individual metering wheels for the seeder unit. Have you decided whether you'll use it for the OSR? If you do, I'd be interested to know whether you have the same problem...Looks like a really tidy job.

What is the steel ring fix please?

Uneven motor speed was my gripe.
They sent us two steel rings that we placed inside the delivery pipe between the metering unit & the distribution dome....the idea being that they would disrupt the flow of the seed into the dome, making it more chaotic, in the hope that the randomisation of the seed would aid better distribution between the outlet ports of the dome.....it didn't work unfortunately. I also had a disturbing amount of chipped & split seeds due to the metering unit. Did you get around the motor speed problem?

I've decided to use the Techneat when drilling OSR just for the Primary P,
I didn't see any variations when I used the V2 on the subsoiler when drilling rape,but there could have been,that was the trouble there was to many variables,especially sowing depth and ruff seed beds.
It will be interesting to see what they do to the distribution head to even up the air flow for the Avadex.

Heathland, how did you get on with avadex application last autumn? Has it worked well for blackgrass control? Tidy job fixing up the applicator.

@JCfarmer
I had a issue with the amount it would apply at the speed I want to travel at,but I've spoken to Techneat and it needs a bigger motor on the feed roller.
The motor is limited to a certain number of rev's and i kept hitting its limits.
Simple job of swapping the motor should sort the problem.
Apart traveling a lot slower it worked well,as for bg control :scratchhead::scratchhead:.

Most folk around here apply Avadex after the rolls - less surface area though a few granules between the clods would help the vapour action of the herbicide.

Hi heathland. When applying micro nutrients are you putting them into the air flow of the vad to be place down the seed pipe, if so how have you piped it into the air flow. Recently bought a pottinger terrasem and also have a techneat applicator doing nothing in the shed. Thanks
