Do not know much about which gearbox it is but a lot of the bigger tractors in our area have had big gearbox problems , some place have had them & gone off them back to other makes because of gearbox problems . may be a one model problem , but i can name a good few with gearbox problems
I've a wee 134hp version with 3500 trouble free hours, so can't answer the OP question "directly".
I've a neighbour with I think now 8000+ hours on T series one, and the only bother thats given is the engine fuel pump
The direct gearbox is the same as the "totally trouble free" powershift versu, except it's only got one clutch pack powershift instead of 3 (one speed change instead of 5).
The direct is a four range full declutch gearbox, mated to a single powershift in each range, all driven through a hydrostat.
Under normal operation, they only real wearing part is the powershift clutch pack. If the operator tries to stress the hydrostat by forcing the otherwise automatic range into one that is too high, it will "stall" the hydrostat and throw up a warning. If the operator continues to drive like an ar$ehole, then yes, the gearbox hydrostat will not have a long life.
If you have the slightest comprehension about how the gearbox works, it ought to outlast a politicians promise. Drive it like you stole it, and it won't last much longer than the hours that a fendt epicyclic Vario is designed to fail within

Thanks for the information, there is a few people going onto Valtra locally and I was just wondering if a second hand one would be worth the risk of buying. We have had Valtra 20 years ago but had transmission problems with it.
