Valtra service charges

We bought in a second hand Valtra (n17d) and as its approaching 2400hrs had it in mind to get it serviced by our local Valtra dealer ,just wonder if its just me thinking £2400 for a service is too strong or if is just the going rate , its a total oil change, brake and tappet check.
We service the simpler tractors ourselves so could do much of the above but good to have a reality check with others

Not sure what a Valtra n17d is but if its less that 200hp the figure quoted sounds very salty to me, even if it includes VAT, which it shouldn't.
I suggest you do it yourself according to the book but unless the tappets are particularly noisy, forget them. Change all oils and filters, but use your common sense. The air cleaner will possibly have much life left in it yet and the cab filter may be washable or just need tapping out. Grease it all and check all fixtures and fittings for security and integrity.
Get a dealer to sort any particular software or other issues you have spotted during ownership or during the service if you think an independent couldn't do it cheaper or wasn't capable.

Price quoted is ex vat , just think dealers are pricing themselves out of reality ,we are luckly to have a good workshop here so we can do most things ourselves but lack the computers to plug in , its good to get reality checks once in a while

£2 per hour assuming 1200 hour major service interval sounds about right for main dealer servicing, that’s why I don’t use main dealers for oil changes anymore, did you have to use dealers as it’s still under warranty?
As said change the oil yourself or use an independent one man band and only use the dealer for software updates.

There's no way that price is justified I know that main dealers are expensive but not to that degree. For less than half my dexta engine can be fully overhauled with new clutch

I’ve just had the 2500 hour service on my t254 , it’s the complete service where they change everything and check everything . It cost €1844 + vat , I have the break down if you want to see it , oil made up a big part of the bill.

Just done the 2400hr service on our N174V ourselves. Got genuine filters from dealer, they came to over £400, excluding cab filters. 63 litres of transmission oil adds up too.

So anyone know whats the itemised list of parts,... the engine oil and filter is the same at every service.

The wiper blades that they replaced were quite new as well 😭

C/D range shift was noticeably quicker and smoother afterwards.

Hub gear oil levels were checked, but not replaced. Total was a fair chunk less than £2400 🤔

Its, basically everything gets changed.

The problem with main dealers are, they add to much to the oils and filters. I could service my fendt on a 2000 hr service for less than a grand, thats hydraulic , trans, engine plus axel's. The problem occurs when your tied up in warranty, dealer has to do it then or at least provide the oils and filters at a premium price.
