It’s a shame really. Always picked up good cheap 2nd hand ones until bought my last one.
Before nobody wanted them cos they didn’t realise how good they were.
I have them here since 1995 and I wasn't long realising that they took some beating , always punching above their weight . But the penny is finally dropping with a lot of men .

Are you serious?
You haven't been saying that for Years have you? Come to think of it I can't ever recall you saying anything positive about valtra.
It's not like you come on here praising them to the Lord and bashing every other make of tractor.
No its nothing like that atal.........
I'm been eventually proved right , thank you.

you ever tried sitting in a 721 or 731 grammer seat , most uncomfortable seat going . fendt fitted these as standard in early days in 7 series , then moved onto 741 seat which is only thicker cushion on bottom and back bit is still thin. evolution was option. 1 thing with newholland they have good seat in most .
I don,t think its the seats to blame as maybe the farmers may need to cut down on the sandwiches.:D

I'm not disputing that they're a decent tractor but come on they're not even in the same league for comfort and cab space as a JD or a JCB possibly even a Fendt.

Valtra need to back to the drawing board with the cab when they brought the new can put it's a lot better than the old one but now they've jammed the big armrest and smart touch in there you can't turn the seat round .

The couple we've had on demo a versu and a direct they'd make a good loader tractor or be ok for running about pulling a trailer but that's about it

I’d say loader work was the weakest of the jobs for them. What did you try them on. Anything heavy on 3pt linkage and almost nothing can touch them.
Biggest mistake most users and in fact dealers sending out demos make is to have set of front weights on when they’re not needed. Anything less than 5 furrow plough and my T174 doesn’t need them. Even then only use in steep work in bad conditions.
4 bags of fert do make it light on front end but again only need weights if on steep ground.

I was more referring to the cab when I'm ploughing or round baleing I turn the seat to the right but it's not possible with the valtra as the armrest fouls on the side console . I had a N174 very on a power harrow and a n174 direct on front and rear mowers . I know they're a strong lift on them but I always found them light on the front . I started my career back in 96 engineering on valmet 8100 etc .
As I said I'm not knocking them they're definitely a contender for me as another option to drive but mostly due to the dealer round here .

I'm not sure if that post is looking for bites or not , granted the cab isn't probably as well finished as a JD I can accept that... But for everything else valtra is head n shoulders above its current competition

Not looking for bites or an argument but I honestly can't see the hype either that or I've had a couple of bad demos they're a tractor and brand that I think are good buy I wouldn't swap my JD yet and I don't really like it to drive I prefer my older one .

The valtra power shift box is good but no overlap between ranges at the lower end of the box I'm not sure about the top end .

The direct to be fair I don't think I was working it properly but it's lot different to any other cvt I've used or tried.

They're strong tractors with decent visibility but I wouldn't want to plough with one

I think you must have had a couple of bad demos.. this entire valley was JD green from the 1970s till very recently now it's turned into valtra valley 4 out of the 6 neighbouring farms have joined the revolution.. 1 has fendt n there is only one left with JD.. so valtra has gotta be doing something right .

They're selling a good few round here as well they were taking JD out to start with but not so much now .

As I said definitely not trying to knock them When our loader tractor is up for a change I wouldn't be surprised if it was a valtra that replace's it just for the smaller bonnet and good vision alone but as a mainline tractor for putting 2000 plus hrs a year on not for me at yhe moment

That's fair enough, everyone has their own preference .. they always come over to the dark side in the end

Tractor brands are a little like favourite soccer teams, no Man Utd fan has enjoyed seeing City take their position at the top of the tree, as has been the case for JD men watching Fendt wipe the floor with them...……….but then having to watch as a third underated brand has muscled in on their patch and is out performing them too...........well its just too much for the green n yellow faithfull to bare:D

Got a valtra 214 (2017). When I use the trailer brakes air(with a load sensing valve) or oil, when braking gently the tractor brakes go on before the trailer brakes which I’d prefer to be the other way round. Which means it’s then slow to pull up, so you push the brakes on a bit harder and the trailer brake come on very aggressively. We have used the trailer on other makes of tractor and they work fine. Is it possible to adjust how the tractor applys the trailer brakes?
