Valtra T234 Review: Farm mach. journal

I picked up a copy of the excellent FMJ yesterday and read the review on the one year old All black Valtra T234 Direct unlimited edition whos operator does 1500 hours annually. He previously ran a Fendt 724 for 5 years so his comments are very valid. Here are just a few of the many detailed observations he has on the machine.

"This is unquestionably the most comfortable tractor I have ever driven"

"The seat in the 724 used to give me backache after a long day, ive not had a twinge since ive been driving the Valtra"

"The cab is very well designed you get the impression that the team of engineers that designed this cab were farmers".

"On the road it floats over bumps,...……………. at speed (57kph) it drives as well as a JCB Fastrac"

"This tractor is an animal in the field, it will pull away from a Fendt 724 or a JD 6215R"

"The Valtra CVT gearbox is very good, but the Fendt 724s was better"

"In my opinion the Valtra T234 is a superior tractor to the comparable Fendt and JDs in its class"

"I love this tractor"(y)

Its good to hear from an operator who can fairly compare the machine with its competitors, without the fear of upsetting or losing ad revenue from manufacturers as per a magazine journalist:whistle:

Farm Machinery Journal is perhaps the best magazine on the market of its kind, I highly recommend it.

They usually do design their tractors for a certain audience. 8000 and 8050 series were developed with peat contractors (that's why the poverty spec has 3 gearsticks, so they have enough slow running gears). Hence the long wheelbase, great ground clearance (and PUH positioning), PTO that spins depending of the ground speed (forgot what it's called), big displacement engine and reverse drive (although it's been there before and still is). Too bad they're so expensive (or the dealer wants a bigger cut, since my friend can get a T234 Direct 15k€ cheaper than us).

Ive been saying it for years that valtra are top of the league , but they could be beaten on comfort and frills , that's where the new t4 models have solved the remaining points to win customers , I have a t254 versu and it simply is an awesome tractor to operate on every point from comfort to ease of use of hydraulics and gears , with a lot of very clever touches , I have 6 valtras here and the new t is in a differant league , it's great to see them now getting the reconisition that they deserve , my dealer is now selling a lot of the bigger models from the 214-254 range and a lot of them are going to first time valtra buyers , last year he traded in over 15 JD and fendt tractors for valtras so the change is definitely on.

So basically he spec'd the wrong seat in his Fendt so the Valtra is a much better tractor.

I can’t believe any modern tractor manufacture would put a bad seat in a tractor, let alone a Fendt.
you ever tried sitting in a 721 or 731 grammer seat , most uncomfortable seat going . fendt fitted these as standard in early days in 7 series , then moved onto 741 seat which is only thicker cushion on bottom and back bit is still thin. evolution was option. 1 thing with newholland they have good seat in most .

Are you serious?
You haven't been saying that for Years have you? Come to think of it I can't ever recall you saying anything positive about valtra.
It's not like you come on here praising them to the Lord and bashing every other make of tractor.
No its nothing like that atal.........

Even a broken clocks right twice a day.

Going to read it today :). Good to see this. I have just ordered a good spec N174D. Went to the factory last week. You could see they care what they are doing unlike some other factories I’ve been too.
Did you book your factory trip yourself or did your dealer organise it

I’ve recently used a couple of Valtras they are undoubtedly good tractors for the users ( not sure about ownership) but the finish of the cab is a bit cheep and cheerful. Not sure what they’ll be like after 5000 hrs .

The article didn’t mention there’s a circlip on the main shaft in the backend that gives way and requires cab off and backend out
That’s happened on lots of them
