I’m not too sure to be honest my old fella went for some parts last year to a dealer and they had a row of very new looking bigger valtras all with arse ends stripped out. He said it didn’t look a good sight. Wonder if anyone in here could shed any light?
There were some of the earlier ones that had a manufacturing fault with a circlip in the gear box that caused issues , there have been r series Deere's with similar issues too.

I have a 254 and it never gave trouble , last year my dealer recalled it for modifcations , so they had to rip out the back end and change a shaft that had a circlip on it that was not strong enough . So if you were in my dealers workshop that day you have thought the worst, but no it’s the fact that valtra recall their tractors and sort their faults out . Go to a jd dealers and see all the tractors lined up waiting for head gaskets and brakes and other issues.

We have oldish Jds , as we get contractors to do all the land work. They will barely do 350hrs a piece a year.. They are ok.
I have 3 neighbours who have valtras . One is a rough as fu ck with his valtra, had it 8 years and never let him down.
The other 2 are contracting putting mega hours on them and keep buying valtra. We are in a very strong Ripon area but they won’t buy green.

Your JD dealer really has to be happy with customers like you, showing your loyalty, but I'm sorry to tell you that there is smart life after JD ..🤣
Not loyal at all tbh, owned Massey, a couple of fendts in the last few years and just changed jd dealers so not blinkered in any respect. Unlike some on here i judge a tractor as I see it, you may agree you may not but the op is asking for opinions. Just to upset you agco guys I have to say our Fendt 312 vario was the most unreliable tractor we have ever owned and was pleased to see the back of it. However despite all the talk on here about past jd issues such as gaskets, I think they are pretty well sorted at the moment.

You really need a demo, i nearly had a valtra 154 bought agreed price and was pretty confident it would do my job.....until i drove it. Cab light years behind a r series jd. Gap maybe narrowed now though especially with an m series
Same here I've tried 3 different Valtra with 2 different gearbox and I'd have one as a loader tractor but no way could I suffer sitting in one all the time . They look good I think they'll be reliable enough but not even close to a JD and I don't like the R I'm more comparing them with a high spec 30 series .

@Northeastfarmer definitely get a good long demo but as a loader tractor they will be good
