Valtra v John Deere

Your the only one I’ve ever heard complain about the hitch, in 25 years here no driver ever had a problem with it , drivers who can read mirrors and now the telescopic hitches are as clear as day to see . So I’d say your lack of experience is your problem.
I find it quicker with a mirror on the back window than a telescopic hitch  it’s one thing I’ve never seen the need for

Sorry to burst your bubble but I know of head gaskets going in 2016 reg JDs . With only 1000 hrs on it. And as I told you before I have a two year old 254 , a lot of features are the same on valtras no matter what power they are. What’s your experience with valtras .

None recently other than experiences from others (some good some bad) which is why I've never told the OP to buy one or the other. I have mentioned a few things that I would consider, which are obviously whether you like one over the other and dealer back up, parts availability and the distance from the dealers.

If you're in to tit for tat stories there's a 6170R in Farm Machinery Journal with 21500 hours on it. It replaced a 27000 hour 6610, so all things are possible. As ever the operator is a huge factor.

Perhaps the OP will buy a Kubota and shut everyone up?

So you can see the telescopic hitch when its extended and lowered OUT OF THE BACK WINDOW?

The direct gearbox "engine" braking is superb. Its a common complaint that valtra brake pedal feel isn't good, and they're spongey overall. If they are, then they're needing bled properly with a trailer hose connected. Bled properly, you need to watch you don't put yourself through the windscreen 😆

You can't, but it's not really the first time that Jimmy G has been caught talking bollox 🙄 He's probably the worst feature of valtra ownership 🤣

Using the hitch mirror did take a couple of attempts to get used to it, but after loading and carting a few thousand bales, you get used to it

(Joking aside, it's actually no bother. Like so much of the valtra cab, somebody in development has spent many hours getting it right before they starting manufacturing them).

"Hydraulic assist" is a patented valtra feature that's brilliant for loader work and it's not been mentioned so far (hard to believe after 22 pages!!!)

The engine rpm is automatically increased when the hydraulics demand oil. It works on both conventional and direct gearbox versions, and makes it near impossible to stall the bugger.

@Northeastfarmer have you frightened the Deere dealer by arranging a demo valtra yet? 🤣

My point was the hitch on the valtra isn't as good to see as my 6820 and that's just fact!

Ah come on now, I think our valtra is great, but hitch visibility is crap.

Hi,
I have close connections with SENIOR Valtra officials.
They tell me Valtra stands for Very Atrocious Lame TRActors.

Had a salesman call my tractor a Vomit once, if the paperwork hadn't been signed on new machine it would have been cancelled!

He's now selling a different brand than what he told me was the best thing since sliced bread!
One day he may be selling Valtra.
Beware be very aware 🤡
