Valtra

It’s already on a tractor I’m looking at hence the question. I’ve never had it and never tried it so haven’t missed it but my back isn’t the best now so thought it might be worth considering. Sounds like it’s not worth paying for but as it’s on there it wouldn’t cause a problem on banks with leaning either. Hmm, desicions, cheers chaps.

No problem on banks, you'll never notice any difference.

Don't the N and T have very different front suspension systems? They certainly used to, I think the N's were hydraulic ant the T's pneumatic.

Not sure which you were referring to but IIRC the N's suspension system was very similar to a Fendt, at least to a casual observer.

Same front axle and suspension on the N and fendt.

How are people finding the hi tech 5’s? Seemed to be a bit of a delay between ranges. Often towing trailers up steep hills so need to step down a range not just gears so wondered if anyone found any problem with the hi tech5 at all? Currently on claas and whilst obviously there’s a delay on first impressions it seems less so just wondered.

Yes there is a few seconds delay between ranges. It is the worst thing about the tractor and would put me off buying one. As you say, you often need to change ranges with a trailer etc on going up hill and the tractor will lose all momentum when doing so. Great tractor otherwise.

Is that with a standard joystick or armrest?

Must say I have hit the power shift on the claas as the loader joystick is right by the throttle and power shift but it’s only a gear ‘usually’. I like the claas and the delay between ranges is no problem with a trailer but you do sometimes seem to skip down a couple too many gears when it’s tough going.

Edit: James ds, this was in reply to you but I can’t work out how to quote.

I’ve already swapped a valtra for a claas 4 years ago so that’s what I’m thinking of changing now. Nothing wrong with it and in fact is more comfortable than our other hi tech valtra but I don’t feel the claas would have the longevity of the valtra and I can’t afford to keep chopping and changing so if the price is right I’ll go back to valtra.

That's with a Quicke loader fitted. Quite often hit the range change button but I rarely drive the tractor so maybe you learn to avoid it or joystick can be set up in a better position.

Interesting problem for a Scandinavian built tractor.

The filter itself can't freeze, only the liquid put through it can freeze.

So it's more a question of using correct fuel (i.e. correct grade of winter diesel for the local conditions), and making sure summer diesel is used up before switching to winter diesel.

Tens of thousands of Valtra running happily in the Nordics. :)

It's only water that freezes , not filters.

Why isn't the same diesel freezing in other brands of tractors he runs?

So does a N92 or A92 make the best little pocket rocket as 2nd tractor?

N92, better cab and shuttle and gearbox isn't the old A92 based on the Massey 4400 series, and have clutch problems. The newer A series have been totally revamped power and model wise and the new N series doesn't start till the N104.
