Valtra

So does a N92 or A92 make the best little pocket rocket as 2nd tractor?
I had a N92 was a great loader pulled like a train and handled a 8 ft moco They need screwed up a little bit or else they’ll only do 36k well mine did

It did nearly set fire to itself with dad one day when the exhaust tip welds rotted spun round and set fire to corner of the cab while it was running flat out on the mower tho

There’s a family friend a sometimes help with a old N91 and it’ll be nearly 10 year old now and gears and everything’s still tight you’d think it was only a couple year old

I only know 2 people well that run valtras so I'm not expert at numbers sorry. First one bought 6450(?) 04 reg I think new and has done 4000hrs AFAIK with no major problems. He then bought a second hand T170 which is now up to 7000 hrs. He lost all drive and it had to be split and it cost him thousands (as any major transmission repair on any brand tractor tends to). Think it may have been a gearbox input shaft.
Second person runs 2 valtras changing them regularly (3years old or so and obviously likes them) one is a mid sized model and the big one a t234 I believe. I think there have been several issues with the 234 but the one I remember is that it sheared the splined casting that connects the rockshaft to the drop arm on the 3PL. Twice! On a relatively heavy MoCO. The dealer tried to say the mower was the problem but it had been used extensively on an older, lower HP McCormick without a problem. Not brand bashing, just commenting on 2 of my friends experiences of Valtra reliability as requested in the thread title.

I was looking at an N series Valtra active on a dealers web site, and although it had manual spools it also had the little joystick in the armrest for a front linkage, how does that work with manual spools?

Mine is plumbed in as a loader. So when i remove the loader block i plug in the front linkage.
So up and down on joystick lifts and lowers
Side to side powers one set of spools on the front.
Push the button and the other set power up.

Fantastic for buckraking.

Is that manual or electric spools?
That joystick in the armrest don't look like it's got cables coming to it.

Mine is an N113 hitec 5 with electric joystick for loader front links and cable spools on rear
So you have a mix of cable and electric spools?

It's just the tractor I've seen advertised is stated to have 3 manual spools, no mention of electric but has a front linkage and joystick in the armrest.
I guess there could be dedicated electric spools to the front linkage although I was under the impression the electrics could be selected to work either front or rear.

I have a direct which is electric spools and the joystick can work either loader, front links and a rear spool or 2 rear spools, on the active/hi tec 5 with cable spools at rear I think the joystick only works an electric spool block for the loader/front links

I’ve joystick on the armrest but front links are the 4th spool

On the side note; if you do lots of work with front links and are going to buy Valtra, put it through the Unlimited studio and get the Lh Link swiveling front linkage.

Why would you want this?
As said above; snow plough, mower, basically anything that would be better to run on the same tracks as tractor. Oh, and front rake. You can adjust the links to turn at the same time with the tyres, either to the same or opposite direction. Or you can swivel it manually as you like.

How much extra is that option
Compared to normal front linkage i would say 2 to 3 grands (list price).

Rear spools are mech, front spools are elec.

It's possible to have both front loader and front linkage on the same tractor. There's a toggle button on that armrest, to choose whether the joystick operates the front loader or front linkage.
